so hard to get good shots in our half-court offense against good defensive teams when those same teams got a LOT more open shots against us.
My particular peeve is when an opposing penetrates or attempts to and we all rush to defend giving them a choice of open shooters to pick from.

I see us getting plenty of good looks. Hence 48% 2FG, 46% 3FG.

But I agree we are somewhat slumping defensively.

This is probably OU's biggest area of concern. The points given up right at the rim last night and @ OSU are alarming. I know this core group of guys can be better on defense as they did it all last season, they just need to recommit to better effort on that side of the ball.

Defensive FG% has gone from 37% non-con to 45% in conference. Too many lay-ups!

Good news is if we can see it, so can the coaches and players. Then they just have to fix it.

Yep. It seems like our 3-4 most recent opponents opponents have been able to penetrate at will (typically with the right hand), and aside from the iron curtain that is Khadeem Lattin waiting at the rim, we have no answer or adjustments so far.

Our offense does not go through the post. And, we rarely try to penetrate looking for a shot at the rim or a foul. When Woodard was a freshman he would attack the rim routinely either scoring or getting to the line. Now we seem to look for the three first.....which kinda makes sense with our shooting percentage from out there. If you can shoot better 33% from three, or better, then it's as good as 50% from two.

I agree
Lon's offense is to dribble around at 25-30' and for a big to halfway set a pick. Then dribble some more and launch a shot or penetrate. Too much one on one. This kind of offense may appeal to the players, but a well coached and semi quick team can cause desperate/contested shots.

We need some inside the paint shots in the worst way. We could get some O rebounds
and then the out side shots would open some.

What ever happened to flashing across the lane from the weak side and a good passer would hit you.

This is the one thing I scream at the TV each and every game. Run some damn offense!

TaShawn Thomas' presence on the defensive end is missed from last years team as well as his interior scoring.

I believe we're capable of scoring inside, it just doesn't seem to be a priority in our offensive philosophy. It was a big part of our game last year with Thomas for sure. But, when we have three guys that hit better than 40% from long range it's hard to argue with how our offense is performing. I would like to see more penetration...especially from Woodard.

I would really like to see the defense get better .....especially on the interior.

Incorrect...by a long stretch...

Kruger runs a lot of ISO, but look at the players he has to do it with!! His offense is up tempo and free moving. Several different options to it. On TV it looks like they are dribbling around and not doing much sometimes, but really take time and break it down one night.

If I was a big time player coming out of high school I would love playing for Kruger. Shoot at will and run up and down. Go to KU or Duke and you will run a system offense. Slower pace as well..

I want Spangler to keep out of foul trouble but when you come out the second half and you have 1 or 0 fouls you need to man up when it comes time for that guard to drive through the lane. He moves out of the way sooooo much when they drive through(which I understand to a degree) but when you aren't even CLOSE to being in "foul trouble" you HAVE to contest it. It's almost like the other coach has told the guards "go right at Spangler he won't try to contest it"...just frustrating.
