Our athletic director is cheap. He hired Capel at 600k. At the time he was 11th in the big 12. I bet we don't pay more than 1 mil. That's kind of below the going rate for good coaches these days. You get what you pay for in coaching. He wants people to attend games, right? Pay up Joe C!

You know this how? According to every report the buy was the hangup on the deal. Buzz was interested and wanted the job. Joe C wouldn't pony up.

I don't belive it's because we were too cheap. If you like where you are currently coaching and they like you, it's always easier to stay than move - especially if they give you a nice raise.
Some candidates are probably worried about the Tiny Gallon situation w/ the NCAA. There are probably some coaches who are very interested in the job but we aren't interested in them for one reason or another.

You can thank the sweet sixteen run as the reason we are not getting our guy... Bad timing and stuff happens... We need a personality. Brash and cocky... And makes you think that this is a destination not a stepping stone...

if so cheap they wouldn't gave Capel 2.5 mill to walk away, Its also a little known fact I guess that Capel was Making 1.4 mill these last couple of years

Disaster? WTF. :facepalm Our 'disaster' went to the Elite Eight and made the tournament twice in five years. Most schools would consider that decent.

Maybe not but outside of UT OU is the most desirable school because of the football revenue it brings and EVERYBODY knows OU will land in a major conference. I really don't think this has anything to do with it.
Going to the Elite Eight & making the tournament 1 other time does not matter as of now.The basketball program is disaster at this point & time,if you can't see that ,then God help us all!Go Sooners!!!!
