WILDCATS vs. OU

Also, she was walking very slowly to the locker room and Colton yelled at her to run and pushed her in the back. There's no way she is back next year. Collosal mishandling by Coale and staff.

He should not be touching her at ALL!!!!!

There is not logical reason to presume that a top 10 player is coming to OU in the foreseeable future regardless who is the coach. Signing a top 20 or top 30 player or players would be the first step in the right direction. A conference championship is probably a requrement to attract that very top talent. At least make the CCG or finishing a game out of the regular season championship would be needed.

Liz Scott is #9 according to Prospect Nation.

Scott is vitally important to us, as is Bloom and Gregory.

Let’s hope they don’t change their minds...and I know letter of intent....blah, blah, blah. That means nothing these days.

Bloom is already here.

Gregory, playing for Sherri is her lifelong dream.

Scott, a poster said that she wanted to be at OU, basketball or not.

I told you guys zero wins the rest of the season. I wish I was wrong.

We have major problems. And it goes well beyond basketball coaching.

Did you watch/listen to the post game interviews by SC?

She was almost totally negative about one single player. Guess who? Ana.

Ana is the best player on the team by about a million miles. Good grief. She now has 2 of the 3 top scoring games in the conference at this point. Today she scored 33 points, was 10 of 20 shooting (that's 50% for the less math skilled like SC), and was 5 out of 6 (83%) from 2 point range, and hit 5 3's. By the way, she was also 8 out of 9 (89%) on free throws. She also works harder than anyone else on the team. Anyone watching this game knows that. She moved all the time, was credited with several steals (5 I think), etc, etc, etc. And all SC wants to do after the game is criticize her? She needs to be sending up prayers for having her on the team.

What is going on here? SC appears to despise Shaina, thinks Ana is the only player deserving of criticism - at least by name. Well except Madi - who she also criticized today - but far less than Ana. The only common denominator I see between them is they are not short white girls, and so don't look like SC did at their age. Could that be the issue?

Yet Sherri in her interview just criticized Ana instead of complimenting her on a great game and great effort and leadership. She said she did OK, but needs to pay more attention to her game - or something like that. What is going on here? I ask again, what is going on? We had 26 turnovers today. Passes to Simpson were fumbled and turned over more times than I can count. But no criticism about that? TV is an absolute turnover machine. But she plays more minutes than anyone on the team??? I did not expect it, but Mercer is far better than Tatum. 90% of the minutes TV is on the court need to be given to Mercer and Shaina.

I also admit K State was massively lucky to hit all the 3's. They have been abysmal at that the last few games - even on wide open attempts. And are just shooting 22% on 3's for the year. So I understand not making that your main focus at the start of the game. But after they start hitting 5, 6, 7 in a row, it is time to put a defender on the top shooter. Unbelievably we NEVER did. Finally Ana just moved over and started covering #12 herself. And she didn't have any more after that. Why didn't the coaches do that far, far earlier. Dumb, Dumb, Dumb coaching.

I also note that both Tatum and Simpson look heavier and in poorer shape than when the season started, or is that just me imagination? Is there no attempt to work on conditioning?

I think I now understand why Ana did not even get mentioned for player of the week last time when she scored 35 points - tied for the most in the conference. I wonder if SC even nominated her. I will guarantee you with the way SC talks about her in the interviews no one would even consider her game as being anything but totally worthless. Why is she treating her this way? I half wonder if perhaps Sc will nominate Tatum or Simpson as our nominee as player of the week this time.

I just listened to the post-game news conference. I would suggest that you go back and listen to it again.

1) She is profuse in her praise of Ana, the only player she invited to the conference. She praised her effort for the entire game.

2) She also gave some praise to Madi.

3) She said Taylor didn't play much because she is ill with the flu. It is tough enough for her to get open when healthy. She just didn't have it in her today.

Thanks Syb.

I am talking about the one on the radio within a minute or so after the game, and the one OU first put on the website.

I have not seen the actual press conference with the players. Perhaps someone got her attention between those events.

I did see her support the team tonight. It was once but I really didn't see her much on tv. I doubt she is in a position to be up right niw.

I haven't had anything negative to say about Colton, he isn't the reason the program has continued to decline. Personally, I don't know him so no complaints there. NOW, with that said, if he did push her, she needs to take action against him, Sherri
, the athletic department and the university. Plus, he has some colossal personality issues which need to be addressed.

I thought about what she said about Ana, too. Not so much when she was talking but later and I was trying to remember if she took any responsibility and couldn't remember her doing do and she said what Ana and Madi needed to do better. Damn, people don't play a perfect game and when you are outcoached, thus outplayed and you are doing your best to find a way to win...come on. Maybe someone said something to her before the press conference.

Syb,

Here is a bit of what she said on the interview I saw:

"The one thing we could always hang onto was Ana's effort. She was flying around. Wasn't always based on good decisions, but she was at least playing really hard."

Not based on good decisions? At least playing really hard? She dominated the game. What she said in the other interview (radio) seemed even less positive. Maybe it was just the way it came across to me, but I was very happy with Ana's play. I do admit she is by far my favorite player on the team.

I went and listened to the interview you are talking about (although it is a bit hard to find on the OU web page) and she was a little kinder on that one. They make it sound like Ana lacks confidence - at least at times. That seems strange, but who knows all that is going on behind the scenes in the program.

I suspect when she said tha Ana could play better she was referring to the 7 turnovers. That is a lot. And not tonight but at times I do think she is shooting not to miss due to a little shakiness in her confidence.

I think it is more that at times Ana tries to do too much. But she was terrific other than the turnovers tonight.

I don't mind turnovers if the players are trying but we as a team have absolutely too many turnovers trying to make impossible passes and impossible shots that are as damaging as turnovers.
