Will Kruger impact your attendance next year?

How does the hiring of Lon Kruger impact your attendance next season?

My support for the team does not depend on who is coaching, nor on how successful the team is.

While this is a very noble sentiment, the vast majority of the fanbase does not share those feelings. Even the unstoppable monster that is OU football suffered a drop off in attendance during the depths of the mid to late 90s. People like winning.

A drop-off, yes, but not nearly as significant a drop-off as it would have been at most schools. I was actually very proud of our fanbase during those dismal years. They hung in there pretty well.

I believe rock bottom came in a game against Iowa State in 98. There were 55K people in the stands at Owen Field that day, and that could even be generous.

I was going to get student season tickets again no matter who was coaching next year. Hopefully with Kruger coaching and a more experienced team, we'll get some more wins in the LNC.

I'll go to the same amount of games, which is every game I am able to attend. Regardless of who's coaching. Boomer Sooner!

I see your ISU game and raise you OU-A&M 1997. The "Thanks For Being a Great Sooner Fan" game.

So, you're saying you will never attend a bball game? :D

Funny. No, I will make it down for 5-6 games, just like under Sampson, and just like under Capel. I do expect bigger crowds early, just due to people wanting to see Krugers style. And hopefully bigger crowds late, due to our dominating defense and fast paced explosive offense!(I hope).

I am curious about the third option. For those that selected that option, what makes you likely to go to less games? Is it a loyalty towards Capel? Do you have an issue with Kruger? Are you troll accounts having fun?

I voted that I would go to more games. However, I'm one of those that the price of gas might impact my trips to Norman. Since I work from home almost all the time now, I may finally take the plunge and move back to Norman.

I don't get to attend many, if any, games no matter whom the coach is. So I didn't vote. I will say this though, there is no way I'd have paid to watch OU play last year. If I get the chance this year, I'll probably try to make a game or two.

As for the casual fan, I said this shortly after LK was hired.....I really don't think you'll much change in attendance until we start winning. If we come out of the gates, and people think we are an NCAA Tourney team after 5-7 games, you may see it pick up some. But it won't change overnight. This is going to be a process.

I am splitting season tickets with my parents this year and it will be the first time since Blakes freshman year (my last year of college) to have tickets so i will be going to more

I don't miss a home game no matter who the coach is. Great entertainment in Norman on weeknights. It is disappointing to see them lose but life goes on.

Sounds trollish to vote less but what do I know. Maybe a few people moved or had a kid or something and simply are not in a position to go. Most of our fanbase that still liked Capel seemed to support him because he was OUr coach. Ive heard people throw out the "Capel loyalist" label as if these fans (me included) carried a torch for Capel. I personally am very excited about The Krug and the direction we are going. I think there is a part of the fanbase that will lend support to whoever the coach is. Right now my favorite coach currently active is Kruger. I wish Capel well but no longer am remotely invested in what he does and will be behind Krug as long as he is here. Its hard for me to imagine still being upset about Capel's dismissal at this point.
