Madi Williams scored a career-high 24 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in Oklahoma’s 82-75 victory over UAB on Sunday at Lloyd Noble Center.

The Sooners (2-0) were dominant at times, then survived a late surge before advancing to the Preseason WNIT semifinals.

OU (2-0) led by as many as 18 points with six and a half minutes left in the third quarter. The Dragons (1-1) outscored OU 24-16 in the fourth and came as close as 69-64 with 4:31 remaining.

Taylor Robertson, who finished with 17 points, made one of her four 3-pointers to make it 76-66 with 2:22 left.

“I thought after they made the run our poise and our growing maturity was revealed. We just were solid down the stretch,” OU coach Sherri Coale said.

“Got a little out of sync offensively in the fourth quarter but just solid down the stretch ... That’s going to be an important win four our team. [UAB is] a team that won 26 games last year and they got every back, so that’s a good basketball team to beat.”

OU’s Ana Llanusa tied UAB’s Miyah Barnes as the game’s leading scorer with 25 points. She also added eight rebounds.

UAB shot 37.3 percent from the field. Rachael Childress entered the game as the NCAA’s active career leader in 3-pointers, but finished 0 for 6 from behind the arc.

Llanusa recorded a career-high eight steals. “I just love defense right now,” Llanusa said. “I think I really fed off of Madi [Williams] and [Taylor Robertson] today. Madi was going crazy today with every part of offense, defense, both ways. I think I really fed off of her.”

OU will host Missouri State at 7 p.m. Thursday. The other quarterfinals take place Monday between
