Actually you win basketball games by scoring more points as a TEAM than the other team. One player does not a team make. WW needs to quit trying so hard and learn to dish the ball off.

Basketball is a team game. In the playground and sometimes in the NBA it can be an individual game, but you don't win championships in the NBA because of great offenses. You win because you can defend well. Lakers last year were great defensively. Boston the year before amazing on defense, San Antonio who won 3 championships great on defense. Pistons great defense. Lakers in the early part of the decade great defense. Even in the NBA defense wins it all in the end.

I don't remember too many times that Quannas White outscored guys he was guarding, his job was too defend and to dish to the scorer. Its a team game, not an individual game.

Willie is usually going to "beat his man" because he scores at high clip and is one of the best offensive players in the Big 12. I could care less if he "beats his man". I want him to defend and play with effort. You are fooling yourself if you don't see that the young guys would feed off of his effort on defense. It would make the whole team play better. Willie is the key.

What makes me want to go up to him and shake him is that he is costing himself a ton (millions) by his poor body language, whining, and lack of effort on defense. You would think he would have the sense to play his guts out for one year so that he can get paid. He is maybe a late first rounder at this point.

Add to that quick you've got to keep them from scoring more points than you as a team. When WW starts to keep his man from beating him which enables others from having to help off, which in turn gives up passes to the wing for three, we'll be alright. Same goes for Pledger, TMG, Davis, Crocker and our other poor perimeter defenders.
