Wisconsin

Dude, just stop. Not sure why, on the heels of a sweet 16 and final four run, it's crept into your brain to just constantly rip on Kruger, but it's absolutely moronic and it's getting really old.

It wasn't meant as a rip on Kruger until you nimrods showed up.

It's comical reading this site lately. The same posters that were clamoring for OU basketball to reach a higher level a few short years ago, now won't let a single bad thing be said about the program, even after what is arguably the worst season in OU basketball history.

Let me repeat that. For the FIRST TIME IN OU'S BASKETBALL HISTORY, WE LOST 20 GAMES THIS PAST SEASON. Sorry that I'm not all sunshine and roses. If we/I can't criticize the program now, then when can we/I?

Yes it was, and then when you were challenged on it you chose to lash out at us.

What's comical is that you claim to remember what we said here years ago. It's also comical that you're claiming to only say a single bad thing about the program. It's also comical that, in the same post, you not only deny ripping on Kruger and also admit to criticizing the program.

We get it. You'd rather be Wisconsin than Oklahoma. Some of us wouldn't trade OU's future for Wisconsin's, despite the fact that they have an excellent program.

I can't imagine that you'll find another way to criticize the program. Surely you've exhausted all the possible options. But my gut tells me that you'll find one. You're nothing if not creative.

Clearly you do not "get it."

I do. You get your rocks off whining about Kruger and the program. It never stops. Every post in every thread is a different version of the same thing. I just hope for your sake and that of your family that you're not as miserable in real life as you clearly are when you log on to this site.

The season has been over how long?

Get over yourself. Don't like the discussions I'm wanting to have or the comments I make, ignore them. I tried starting a thread on Thursday for the games, and got no comments. Weird for a bunch of "bball fans" to not want to talk hoops. I'm sorry you get butt hurt when someone criticizes the worst OU team ever. Clearly you are a snowflake that can't handle criticism. That isn't my problem though.

He's right^. You haven't had much positive to post about Kruger. It is what it is but you are getting this reaction because you hardly ever post something positive about the current program. FYI.

snowflake?

doesn't surprise me a bit that you're part of all that crowd. your hatefulness and bitterness are evident all the time and only you miss it.

you and your kind will soon pass completely away and a new world of better people will be left. deal.

Positive to post about Kruger THIS year? Current program as in right now? Yeah, I haven't posted much positive.

How about last year? I was as excited as anybody else about things.

Don't act like I'm anti-Kruger just b/c I've been critical of THIS year's team. I thought Kruger was a great hire, and had very, very little bad to say about him thru the end of last season. But we just had the worst season ever for OU basketball. Again, I don't apologize for not being happy or content with that.

That's what people said in the 60's and 70's too. How'd that turn out?

Truth is, most folks get smarter when they get older. So all those kids out there that think they want a certain thing, once they experience the real world, most will flip. Always have, always do, and probably always will.

Uhh, so, deal.

I have experienced plenty of the real world. More than most. And it is a certainty that your kind is dying off. At this point you exist pretty far down the chain already. Better to die out in peace and preserve some inkling of a positive memory than keep up the hate and paranoia to your grave.

If the least among us is indeed a snowflake, then it is to all of us to nurture all the way to snowflakes. or sparrows as the case may be.

I interrupt today's WTSooner/CoolM pissing contest to bring you my thoughts on this particular topic.

I think our programs are very similar in a lot of ways, they just achieved consistency ten years later than we did. With the arrival of Wayman in the fall of 1982, we became a really good basketball program. The Badgers hired Stu Jackson before the 1993 season, and they've missed the dance only four times since then. I had no idea Stan Van coached there until glancing through their recent history.

They have a few feathers in their cap:

1. They followed up a solid hire (Jackson) with a good one (Dick Bennett) which begat a great one (Bo Ryan). A foundation like that allowed them to overcome off the court scandals at the end of Ryan's tenure and bridge the gap to Gard, who appears to be more than enough to keep the train going. It will be interesting to see how they do without Hayes, who is a stud deluxe.

2. They moved out of their old barn in 1998 and avoided the multi-purpose fad by building the gorgeous Kohl Center. My brother went to the game up there this year, and could not say enough about the facility, support and LOCATION of the arena.

3. They love their hoops up there, but they REALLY love their Badgers. The support they enjoy is really quite remarkable. Maybe more students stick around Wisconsin after graduation as opposed to the recent Sooners who nearly all come from, and head back to, Texas.

Our wins and losses and achievements may be similar, and in some ways ours may be better, but I think we should aspire to the overall success, support and brand of Wisconsin basketball. Their "down" years of late have been 9-7 tallies in the conference with a first-weekend exit in the dance. None of this 10-20 radioactive dumpster fire we sat through this season.

Thank you. You always manage to say it better than I ever could.

Their consistency over the last 20 years is what caught my eye.

The main area ou hoops can improve is with fan support. Our fans suck ass and they are the real issue. Not the players or the coaches, but the fans. wisconsins fan support is infinitely better than ours. That's the only area I'm envious of Wisconsin.

It is impressive, the attendance the Badgers get in both football and basketball. On the one hand they have the benefit of being the only major sports program in the state and of 2 million more people in the state than Oklahoma; on the other hand, Madison has under 300K residents and is an hour and a half from Milwaukee. So to fill the house so often for basketball, especially, and in a state that has pro teams in all the major sports, is impressive.

You were fairly positive last year, though you did complain more than most on here. If I remember right you were one of the few who said we never would have made the final 4 without our draw in the West regional, so that's a backhanded compliment.

I remember back when you were SoonerfanTU and you were uber-positive about Sampson, more than most I might add. You haven't been that positive about Kruger. Maybe that's because you are older and therefore wiser and not as emotional, I have no idea. However, let's not act like you have been a Kruger cheerleader, because you clearly haven't. That's fine if that's what you want to do, I really don't care, but don't piss and moan when others call you out for always being negative.

To your OP...Wisconsin has a very good basketball program, much better than I thought. I had no idea they have been to as many Sweet 16's? Is some of it because the B1G (Big 10) get's more publicity than say the Big 12? I can't think of many seasons over the last 37 years (since Wayman) where I wished we had their team instead of ours, but I'm not a huge B1G (or Big 10) sports fan.

I think its interesting to note our loss in 2000 to Purdue was their gain because they beat Purdue en route to the Final 4 that year. Had we matched up with Wisconsin, I think we win that game but we choked vs Purdue. Their other 2 Final 4's were with that really talented roster of Kaminsky/Decker/etc. Take away those teams and clearly OU is the better program in my mind.

I'm going to compare from when Dick Bennett was hired. It meshes well with our hire of Kelvin, which is basically a generation of basketball.

OKLAHOMA SOONERS (from 1995 - 23 seasons):

Conference Championships: 1
Conference Tournament Championships: 3
Final Four: 2
Elite 8: 2
Sweet 16: 2
First Round Losses: 8
NCAA Misses: 6
Losing Seasons: 4

WISCONSIN BADGERS (from 1996 - 22 seasons):

Conference Championships: 4
Conference Tournament Championships: 3
Final Four: 3
Elite 8: 1
Sweet 16: 5
First Round Losses: 5
NCAA Misses: 2
Losing Seasons: 1

Pretty stout stuff from Madison. But I think it will be wise to see what happens when all of Bo Ryan's players are gone. Koenig is really good, and we've already discussed what a moose Hayes can be.

The first round losses difference is substantial. All of the 90's were first round losses except 90 and 99 (92, 95, 96, 97, 98). Since then we've had first round losses in 2001, 2006, 2013, 2014.

Conference championships difference is substantial too. The Big 10 doesn't have KU but they do have Mich State which is a very good program. So, 4 conference championships for Wisconsin is impressive. I'm curious when those occured? Wikipedia says 2002, 2003, 2008 and 2015. (Looking at the Big 10 for the 2002/2003 seasons, I think OU wins the Big 10 those years, as the conference was down but that's beside the point.)
