Frank Martin is right about parents. I remember something my dad (now deceased) said several years ago during one of his visits to Ada. We were watching a little league game. He said, “Son, do you know why this field has a tall, chain link fence?” I said, “Sure, dad, it’s to stop foul balls.” He replied, “No, it’s to keep parents out.” Dad was being funny, of course, but there is also some truth to what he was implying.
My years of coaching nearly every kind of youth sport you can name taught me one thing. Dealing with and coaching the kids is easy. The parents make coaching tough if you let them. I never did.
