Yori resigned

Shocked! Always liked her and her teams. Divorce. Menopause? That may sound sexist BUT am a feminist and there is no reason to not address reality.
Of course, men have mid-life crisis and also possibly something similar to menopause.

Anyway, feel bad for all involved.

I liked her too. I sure didn't see this coming.

Some of Yori's players are upset that she felt she had to resign. They agreed she is tough and demanding but they loved playing for her.

That team entered the NCAA Tournament with a 30-1 record, earned the school’s first No. 1 seed and later advanced to the program’s first NCAA Sweet 16.
Dunno about the rest of you, but if you have a 30-win regular season and a 1-seed, you darn sure don't expect a Sweet 16 banner, even at a non-storied place like Nebrasky.

Anyways, I miss Nebbish and wish they'd dump the Big Ten already. Texas is not that scary, we promise.

I'm alway a little skeptical of these kinds of situations.

I know absolutely nothing of the situation. But at times educational administrations will do almost anything to avoid any risk of adverse publicity.

And todays students seem to have extreme sensitivities and are terrorized by something as simple as a political slogan that they disagree with. And the administrations rather than tell them to grow up encourage such behavior.

I do believe that a coaches key jobs are to teach and encourage. Certainly the recruiting and x's and o's are important too. And coaches have to know how to best encourage each player too perform as individuals and as a team.

Yori may have been a bad coach but bad coaches usually are not as successful as long as she has if they are a bad coach.

Rumor out west is that Natalie Romeo might be looking to transfer... I'm sure she would look mostly at the Pac 12 schools. Since it seems like OU will miss out on every top guard in Texas, maybe the coaches will reach out to her, she is more of a shooting guard (104 threes @ 42.4%) but we could use a good shooter regardless...

Romeo is one who said Yori didn't abuse anyone. She is not happy with the few players who complained.

Think she will do a good job for the Huskers. However, I thought highly of Yori.

I believe she may do a good job as well. I do feel she is walking into
a difficult situation. I would want my contract to assure me a few things and
also just have in writing that the administration is on the same page as I, if I took that job.

She also needs to have a team meeting immediately, probably talk to them individually first. Then reach out to recruits and start looking for new recruits.
When talking with any player or future player on an individual basis, I would set out my goals, how I coach, how I practice, my expectations and include how and what I would do to help that individual and then, of course, question them.

From the articles I have read, Yori is a demanding coach and she keeps her players in even with a lead, when maybe she should rest them. I also believe she has never been deep in talent so also had to give some players a lot of minutes. Also read she is very smart and has a cutting wit. Read that she has been hard on reporters with that wit. That she was self-deprecating.
So my take is she is not a natural charmer with the media and possibly not
with her players, but so many recent players have come out in her defense.
Romeo said this was a ridiculously easy year of practice, so definitely differing sides of that. Another player that is there Jasmine Cincore was disappointed in her playing time or how she was played and maybe it was not what the coach had told her would happen. (trying to remember this stuff from articles I read a couple of days ago) I think she may have asked for a release. Also, Romeo hasn't decided if she would leave or not.

My basic take was: maybe it was a staff member situation more than a player, the team hasn't done as well the last four years might have played a roll though think it shouldn't have and don't know how much the fact tat Connie is going through a tough time with her divorce and custody situation and maybe she just said to heck with it.....I can't fight this too. Too her family situation might have affected her emotions this year while coaching. Also, not sure how good there AD is. They fire Bo Pellini and then hire the current coach. .....

Saw a post that said it was a copy of an email from Connie. It was a couple of sentences which denied any wrong and may have asked the person to send it on to 15 people and put on twitter and facebook. Can't find it now. It was at Huskerhoops I think. I kind of wondered about the validity of it.
Did not seem like a classy move if true.

Boy I hate that. Maybe she didn't do well as a baby-sitter. She always
pushed herself so maybe she expected the same from them. I know when Teresa Edwards was working for the Tulsa Shock in 2011, the year Liz Cambage
was the second pick in the first round, rumor was she was shocked that Liz could not do a push-up.

Maybe the older players did not have it as easy as the players now and just expect more. I hope that is it. I would like to see Sheryl succeed. The team
doesn't have a very good record under her but not sure what it was before.
Great timing for this to come out as she is elected to Hall of Fame.
