No one ever brings up defense. We have been poor to terrible for 2 years. We have also been below average in RBing. The reason for this is NO quickness. Quickness is what Lon should be recruiting. He has failed in this category very miserably.

I'd say the bigger issue is effort. There are plenty of teams every year who play great defense without being overly quick or athletic. Not saying quickness doesn't help a lot, but I don't think many of the really good Wisconsin or Virginia teams of recent years were blessed with a ton of super quick guys. Or K-State, as another example. I will be very disappointed if we don't see a huge improvement on D this season, given how bad we were this season.

I certainly see a need to have a defensive stopper on the perimeter and Lon hasn't seemed to pursue them but do we really know.

It was all effort. Any player can rebound. It's literally prolly 80% effort
