#10 OU vs #20 Michigan 8:30pm 12/17

this will also be on national tv, so a lot more people will get a chance to watch our team play, hope we play well!!

Ugly… lots of unforced TO’s. Mich stepped up on ball pressure really puts the team in a cluster.

Just don’t run sets very well.

Typical “stupid” TO… the BLOB where we turned it over after vernquist (sp) fell down. Tot came open immediately but instead we held then threw that thing. SMH.

30-30 at half. Ugly physical defensive game. Beers got 2 offensive fouls called on her…has to be frustrating when they defend her so physically and then she gets the fouls called on her.

They are playing hard physical denial defense. Need to get our spacing right and go backdoor on them.

Ya, it would be, but she’s gotten position the last couple of trips.

I just so frustrated with the carelessness we have with the ball… the crappy passes

We are up 50-47 after Q3. Better offense that quarter. But we can’t string a really good run together because we are struggling to hit shots.

Not picturesque by any means, but this type of win is a good thing for this team. Not every game is going to be up & down/ 80’s-90’s-ish.

I thought them players of the game were Lexy Keys and Liz Scott. Keys played some incredible lockdown defense on Michigan’s best player Swords all night long, and in the first half whenever we NEEDED a bucket or rebounding to grab some momentum, it felt like it was always Liz. We don’t win this without either of them.

There were 47 turnovers and 44 fouls in that game, but we found a way.

Brilliant coaching by Jenny. A brutal game like this is good experience for the tournament. I do not know if the SEC refs let them play physical but we'll find out soon enough. I though Beers showed excellent restraint to avoid worse foul trouble. When the ball was thrown in to her the defenders slammed into here back and collapsed on her. They finally paid the price with two of their major players fouling out with significant time left.

Don't mind hard-nosed play from an opponent, but Michigan bordered on dirty play. The first Michigan player to foul out in the second half actually should have fouled out in the first half. She seemed to take on the roll of enforcer, and the way she played defense could be described as brutal. I suspect the Michigan coach knew that fouling often and hard was her team's best/only shot at beating OU. And it actually worked to some extent, but in the long run the Sooners kept their wits and won the game because they have the better players and coach.

I had the same thought about the way Michigan played defense. It is good experience for our team but a poor job by the officials. I would love to hear Jennie's behind the scenes opinion of the game. Michigan's only other loss was by 6 points to South Carolina. They had more fouls than South Carolina, too, so it appears to be a feature of their defense.

Whoever said they are or are trying to be like the old A&M. all five of their girls fouled on every play, arm barred, hand checked, climbed out backs around the goal, and complained every time a foul was called. Teams like that just numb the officiating and rely on the officials to finally just make the decision they can't call everything and let it go. Effective, but just ruins the game to watch.

Great experience though and will help them get ready for conference and tourney play. Most encouraging part of the game for me was the halftime adjustments by Jennie to get Beers and Liz the ball in the low post. This won the game for us IMO. The type of defense played by Michigan also had the effect of speeding us up and effecting out shooting. Again, good experience.
