2017 trae young- you guys know plenty

2017 Lavar Betts- made his final 7

2017 JJ Chandler- made his final 9

Most recent offer- (one I like the most besides young) Wabissa Bede (Isaiah mold)

2017 Elijah Landrum (no offer yet) pending

If Trae rules out OU, I bet JJ Chandler would make the Sooners his top choice. He and Kam McGusty are buddies from the Katy Tx area.

I still think we get Trae.

We may take 2 of these guys.

Attrition seems to be a fairly consistent occurrence in college basketball. We may not see a likely transfer right now, but odds are someone will leave that we don't expect. It happens almost every year.

I've noticed on Twitter that they just offered another 2017 PG. I'm guessing they may presume we're going to miss out on Young. Maybe I'm wrong but they are still offering.

I'm fairly confident in saying that these aren't committable offers until young decides. With the exception of maybe 1.

They still feel they are getting young,

I agree. You can't put all your eggs in one basket. They're smart to continue to recruit a PG. Payton Pritchard proved that last year.

I also agree they will get Young. JMHO. They have too much invested in each other. OU made the FF last year so they're not a chopped liver basketball school.

If Young may be one and done they can't pass up other top PG's if they are interested.

This! I agree with you and CT that when the dust settles on recruiting for the 2017 class, Young will be a Sooner.

Having said that, though, Lon has never been a coach who is prone to "put all of his eggs in one basket" as you correctly stated. I was surprised when he stayed the course on Pritchard until he had no choice but to move on to Plan B. I don't believe he will do that again, even for Trae Young. And to be honest, as much as I want to see Trae in a Sooner uniform, I hope Lon will not allow him to drag out his decision beyond the early signing period.

I don't think Lon would offer a scholarship to a kid and say only if someone else doesn't come. I could see them saying if he doesn't commit you are our#1 priority but if you have an actual offer then surely you have an offer. I haven't seen Trey Young picked to go to OU on any actual website other than hopes and guesses by fans. I would love to have him but I'm not holding my breath.

Honestly, from reading his updates, I would guess he goes to somewhere not far off but not at home either. KU comes to mind but most sites are picking UK.

You'd be wrong then. It's a common practice.

I wouldn't feel like it's an offer if someone tells you you're not coming here if who ever does. That shows interest but not a commitment from a school. I guess it must be part of a sales pitch in itself. I was recruited in football. I had never heard that you have an offer "if" before. Maybe pertaining to grades or behavior but not other players. Had coaches tell me they were interested without offering me but every time I got offered I got offered I felt. Basketball has so few spots I suppose they may have to do that?

The thing I like about this staff is that they are always trying to have plans B and C in case plan A doesn't work out.

It didn't always appear that way during some of Coach Capel's recruiting years to me.

No chance Young is one and done. If he is 165 pounds, I would be surprised. He's going to need at least two years of collegiate strength training before he can play at the pro level.

He's an Austin Johnson level stick figure.

I do like the recruiting style of Kruger vs Capel. Seemed like Capel kept a lot of eggs in one basket. I think Mr Kruger is an intelligent man.

They will wait for Young but could take another point guard or at least combo before he decides. I agree with CoachTalk.
We don't lose a big guy off next years team so no need for a big unless he is a great player.
