2018 Recruiting

Wonder if the suspension of Holmes was involved in Collier's decision? Baylor hoping to get back in on Collier. But, she was really down to USC, Texas, and Notre Dame before UConn. It may have an impact on other recruiting, especially posts.

Baylor and Texas are in on several top twenty-five types. But, there are about five in pursuit of each. Ohio State seems to be a player for some of these, and they haven't had a commit from anyone in two years.

When Williams committed to OU, her stock really dove with HoopGurlz. Still #8 with Prospect Nation.

Some kids seem to be highly-recruited by some good teams that aren't on anyone's list. I don't know if the scouts can keep up with all of the emerging players around the world.

Charli Collier is going to Texas. Karen Aston has called Queen Egbo to let her know there is no room at the Longhorn Inn for her. Texas has not endeared themselves to Texas High School Coaches. Recruiting can be a cut throat business, nice way to treat a 17 year old.

Egbo 6'3" is #15 and Collier 6'5" and #2 per ESPN. Did OU recruite either player?

OU showed interest in Collier at 1 time, or she showed interest in OU, not sure about Egbo...

Dallas have you seen Taylor Jones play? And will she be an elite recruit?

The next 47 days may prove to be interesting. This means that UConn, like Ohio State, has zero commitments for this year. Of course, Christyn Williams is visiting both schools.

Supposedly, this puts Texas out of scholarships. But, I thought that Routt was severely injured and might not actually come in this year, if ever. Texas had kept her offer open after her injury. Still open? That scholarship or still more movement might open another scholarship. Egbo still has Baylor, Florida State, and Mississippi State. Texas may still be in the Jessica Carter hunt, but so are a lot of others. Baylor has a similar deal with Scott-Grayson and DeCosta---lots of competition.

OU may have their post filled elsewhere. I see that Blue-Star still has OU with only Murcer, Williams, and Veitenheimer. Nobody seems to know of the commitment by Lampkin.

Jessika Carter committed to Miss. State this weekend.

Texas is still in pursuit of Christyn Williams.

That's hilarious! Coach Aston has great relationships with the high school coaches; her in-state recruiting is proof. We can't sign and offer every in-state player; sometimes tough decisions have to be made.

2018 players we appear to be continuing to recruit (prospectsnation.com/ESPN rating):
Karisma Oritz G 6'0" #82/58
Yo'Myris Morris P 6'2" #96/88
Rokia Doumbia G 5'8" #55/94 (2019 rating for prospectsnation.com)
Rae Burrell W 6'1" #112/44

Ortiz is a new name, I thought she was down to USC and Penn st... I think is a high impact kid and teammate of 2019 Haley Jones

After visiting South Carolina last weekend together, DeCosta and Williams are visiting Tennessee this weekend along with some commits. DeCosta visits Baylor next week.

#13 Zarielle Green is visiting Kansas this weekend. They seem to be getting a surprising amount of attention.

OU still looking at visits from Doumbia 10/6, Morris 11/3, and Burrell sometime before 11/3.

A lot of the top fifty have not decided yet.

Kansas had a big weekend, receiving three commitments, all from Duncanville, Tx prospects. Their visitors this weekend:

Zarielle Green 6-0 G Duncanville, Tx #13 HoopGurlz, Commit to KU
Starr Jacobs 6-0 W Duncanville, Tx Commit to KU
Aniya Thomas 5-7 G Duncanville, Tx Commit to KU
Mariane Carvalho 6-1 G/F Highland CC (KS)
Kaylah Rainey 5-7 PG Belleville East, IL 2019
Sydney Parrish 6-1 W W Hamilton SE, IN 2020
Brooklyn Mitchell 5-7 PG Ursuline Academy, New Orleans, LA #45 HoopGurlz

Green's other schools were Georgia, Tennessee, UCLA, and Texas A&M
Carvalho is a highly ranked JUCO guard from Brazil.

wow, go Kansas! I'm excited to see that program get back to where it was a few years ago. I just really wish OU could land Burrell and Doumbia. Say hypothetically they do not land either of them, that still leaves us with room for at least two more in the recruiting class to have a decent sized bench, who else are we pursuing besides these two and Morris?

I don't know that Duncanville was that good---to take the whole team. They got one good one, looking at another possible in Carvalho. Mitchell is an interesting future possibility. They have, at least, the door open to some top prospects.

I don't know that we have learned anything since Cuda's post: Ortiz (Penn St), Doumbia, Burrell, and Morris with pending visits. There are others who have been here.

I think the coaches are probably visiting some camps that are around the country. With so many uncommitted 2018s, some of these may still be wide open. But, I think OU has settled on its 2018 group and is working on 2019 and 2020.

DeCosta is set to announce her college choice on October 10, next week, she still has a visit set Baylor this weekend...

I think Decosta will pick between Tennessee and Louisville, if she picks tennessee then Burrell might pick OU once she can get in for a visit... DeCosta, Davis(2017) and Burrell all project at the 4 in college so that could be a bit of a log jam. Doumbia has a visit set for 10/6 at OU, it would make the most since for Burrell to be on her visit to OU then as well...

There was a time when we just had to have Addison Ryan, the next superstar. She committed to Florida Atlantic.

I have to say I was a little surprised to hear that, I didn't think she would be an All American, but at lest a starter at a major D1 school...
