2020/2021 Tidbits

Coachtalk, was Jaxson Robinson the highest rated kid on 2021 Team Griffin? Higher than Alexander? I know something like 6 players are being highly recruited from the 2021 team.... and the Sooners have offered 3-4 of them.

Jaxson was ranked 34 and Trey is 41 on 24/7. both are very even.

Some kids want to get away. Twitter has been flaming about ou football and instate kids.

Cant make them go to your school.

Damian Collins, bijan, kj adams, robinson, and trey alexander all have offers.

These guys should mix nicely with the core of Manek, Reaves, Harmon, Kur, and JB next year. All skilled, all good athletes, all good shooters, all versatile.

Did JUCO adjust their 3 point line to match the new NCAA 3 point line?

I hear you. But it would be nice to be able to land home grown guys. Oklahoma has so few players in both sports, it makes it much more difficult in recruiting. Just hate it when they getaway, especially to a school anything but a blueblood..

No, but sometimes I feel like posting armed guards around your keyboard!

Right back at you.

Coach said it: Some guys want to leave home and play elsewhere. Some guys just feel at home at a particular school or with a particular coach (or both) for reasons that aren't always easily defined. Some guys get paid to go elsewhere, and I sure don't want OU resorting to that.

Give me 2 of the 3 and hope one works out. I think we will have 1/2 departures.

Life should be a balancing act. You, on past occasions, have let it be known of your strong dislike of the University of Kansas basketball program where you, in a sense, left your normal skin and made some over the top (my golf swing), disparaging comments (to each his own).

You responded to a comment which was purely an exaggeration of reality and did so utilizing hyperbole. I do not remember anyone calling you out on your exaggerated venting, because they saw it for what it was, thus you should perhaps stick to the motto "do unto others as they do onto you." (and now let us turn to verse 5, paragraph 2 of Ecclesiastes).

As a longtime Ada resident, I was looking forward to seeing Jaxson in the C & C. Looks as if I’ll lose one more recruit with an Ada connection (Jalen Wilson’s family used to live here).

Now, I plan to focus my attention on Trey Alexander. Is he better than Jaxson Robinson? In the Heritage Hall/Ada head to head in early December, Trey got the upper hand on Jaxson with a 34 points, 11 rebounds and 5 steals performance. As I recall, Jaxson scored less than half of that number, but he made three shots from behind the arc.

Here’s a blip I found about that game:

Trey Alexander scored over 30 points in each of the first four games, and dropped 23 in reduced minutes against an overmatched Santa Fe South squad. Against Ada and his AAU Team Griffin teammate, Jaxson Robinson, Alexander went off for a season-high 34 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 steals. The two have a friendly competitive attitude and are friends off the court. Robinson couldn't miss the first quarter and had a very strong start before Alexander teamed up with teammate Kenneth Daughty to shut down the lanky 6'6 shooter. After draining a step-back 19' jumper to send the game to overtime, Trey finished with 31 in a narrow loss to nationally ranked Dora (Missouri) at the Ozark Mountain Shootout. The talented junior is now averaging a team leading 31 points per game.

I think Alexander is better but have only seen Robinson 1 time. Robinson is definitely bigger & probably shoots better from 3, while Alexander is a better scorer & athlete right now.

Give me Alexander, Cortes, Obasaki and either Collins or Colbert and I will be fat and happy!!!

I think this could be our class or good mixture.

I havent heard a lot lately. Ill try and check around.

Id rather have Trey over Robinson.

Yes, that is the obvious question to ask considering how effective they are from deep range.

Well Reaves shot 45% at WSU then the line moves back and hes shooting 25% here. I feel like its a fair question.

You looked at the shooting percentages of 3 JC players and saw how well they were shooting 3 pointers and you asked if they shoot from the same distance as division 1 and I was agreeing with you, for that it is an important aspect, for if it was moved then it is more impressive than if the line had not been adjusted. Again, I was agreeing with you and not questioning your point of view for an apples to apples comparison puts things in perspective.
