2021 Recruiting

How many scholarships will be available in 2021 now that Gibson and Harkless are on board?

Assuming 4..... Cortez is local, and the other 3 are from Kansas and Texas. All 3 of the jucos are already pretty decorated, but have another year to develop, get better, stronger, etc.

Josh Baker (6'4'' 175) - Hutchinson CC
Baker led the Jayhawk Conference this season in 3-point efficiency at 49.4 percent (76 of 154). That mark is fourth-best in Jayhawk Conference history...Tying a Blue Dragon freshman record for 3-pointers and being the top 3-point shooter in the Jayhawk Conference this season, Hutchinson Community College guard Josh Baker was named the 2020 Jayhawk West Freshman of the Year... Baker tied a Blue Dragon freshman record with 76 3-pointers this season this season, matching Derrick Drummond in 1996. Baker also tied Drummond for the third-most 3-pointers in Blue Dragon single-season history.

Dalen Ridgnal (6'6'' 195) - Cowley CC
Third Team NJCAA Division I All-American.. Ridgnal recorded 20 double-doubles and averaged 16.4 points and 10.6 rebounds per game. Prior to being named an All-American, Ridgnal was named a First Team All-Region VI and All-Conference selection, the Jayhawk East Freshman of the Year, and was named to the Region VI All-Tournament Team.

Bijan Cortez (6'2'' 175 - Kingfisher OK)
Bijan is a 6-foot-2, 175-pound guard. He can throw down flashy dunks, dish out crafty assists and can shoot from nearly anywhere on the court. He's a key cog in the Yellowjackets’ run as they pursue a spot among the state’s best teams of all time. This season, he's averaging 21.5 points on a 54% shooting clip from 3-point range, 6 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game.

Souleymane Doumbia (7'0'' 215 - Navarro JC)
Averaged 10 points and 7 rebounds per game as a freshman at Navarro. Has range on his jumper, moves really well, great athlete, powerful dunker... 4 star prospect with offers from TCU and Houston early.

Really need some HS talent in this class, so the Harmon class and this class don't all graduate at the same time. It's why missing so far on many of our top prospects (OK kids and Manny) has an impact beyond what is easily seen. This is where Lon has struggled. With all the transfers in and out, our classes are off kilter, and it creates the ups and downs in talent and expectations year to year.

No, we need to infuse high-level talent and athletic ability that is more ready to contribute on day one with Manek, Reaves, Kur, and Williams gone.

Prime yourself for a great 2021 season, and worry about the rest later. You can fill in more talent if you recruit the area properly, and get some transfers and what not.

Depends on what the other players do in terms of growth. We'd still have Harmon, Hill, Gibson, and Harkness. I could see a need for a JUCO big, but if those guys progress as they should, and maybe Phipps shows he'll be a contributor, I'd prefer to go HS and let those guys be backups that grow into starters in a year or two. That's the way our recruiting needs to start working. But that is assuming those guys I mentioned above continue to improve.

High school guys & transfers. Maybe a freshmen juco, don’t need anymore in the current 5 man freshmen class that will also probably include Harkless.

Robinson wasn’t ever going to stay in state, Alexander probably won’t either. Probably going for 3 HS players. Cortes, wing, post. Hopefully that post is Collins.

Nolan Hickman
Tamar Bates
Daimion Collins
Trey Alexander (Out of state my guess)
Frankie Collins

Lot more they are following online

Question... would you be upset with the class I listed? Lets say we signed those exact players.

I don't mind JUCO's, but 3 in a class, when we're going to have 5 other upperclassmen that first year they'd be on the roster, is a bit much. I wouldn't mind one or two in this class. Preferably at least one that is a 4/5.

Ill pass on 3 JUCOS

So I will go ahead and pencil you in for chasing 5 stars till the very end of the process, not getting them, and then finding mid-major transfers and other leftovers out of pure desperation.

AKA "the usual".

Who on the roster fits that mold? Harkless I guess, but that was bc of JB’s unexpected transfer. What 5* are you talking about? BT? If OU gave up on BT that would’ve been stupid.

You are describing Capel.

LK goes after his top prospects, but he also has viable backup plans.

Doolittle, Manek, Williams, Reaves, Hill, Vic, JB, Harmon. Where they all out of desperation?

I’d expect no less from you.
I thought we had a great chance at manny o and still Collins

But you do you. Your juco posts haven’t been superior lately.

I’ll take 1 or 2 but you said that exact class. I said I’ll
Pass don’t get butthurt.

Only pure “leftover” was Lazenby imo.

I can get behind this. I still like jucos.

But don’t want 3-4 in a class.

OU can't even get the players from their own state to come here (they are going to TAMU, for some reason). Why are we worrying about them getting top players from elsewhere?
