They can't free up tens of millions without affecting the program in some ways. A few million? Five million? Probably.

+1. Joe C was a responsible spender. There isn’t some huge efficiency opportunity out there unless you start cutting non revenue programs.

They can free up 20 mil in a heart beat. And in fact with rev share everyone in the p4 just did.

Dropping tennis will never happen. One of the athletic department’s biggest donors (Tim Headington) played tennis at OU and is a huge tennis fan. Dropping golf is also not going to happen. OU has one of the best and most well respected university golf courses in the country, and I think it’s actually a source of profit for the university.

the course making money doesn't really have anything to do with the golf team .. and the course itself i don't think is part of the Athletic dept

I’m sure you are probably right about that, but I have to think that if the golf team goes away, so does the course, at least in its current form.

The irony of cutting in some ways the only men's sports OU could truly win a natty in the next 5 years (gymnastics and golf).
