Sam mentioned him earlier this summer, but a prospect who seems to be on Lon Kruger's wish list for the 2013 class is Baton Rouge, La. center Damian Jones.

Jones, from Scotlandville High School, is an athletic 6-9 (some list him 6-10) 220-pound big man who we're hearing could be making a visit to Norman at some point soon.

According to ESPN, Jones has offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, LSU, Oklahoma, St. John's, Stanford Texas A&M, Tulane and Vanderbilt.

He's ranked 72nd nationally by ESPN, 100th by Scout and 101st nationally by Rivals. He played AAU ball with the Texas Titans this past summer.

Here are some more reports on Jones that are worth a read:

Ive watched a few videos on him and looks really good. I hope we can get him somehow. But I doubt we will.

I tend to worry about OU's post in the 2013-14 season with Osby, Fitz, and Arent graduating. Especially since most of the recruits discussed here tend to be of the guard/wing variety. So I'm especially stoked to see another big man pop on Kruger's radar.

Yep, the post is pretty damn thin beyond the '12-'13 season.
But Kruger is gonna be able to sign 5 guys by my count.
2 of those guys need to be Bigs. Possibly even 3.

M'Baye, Neal and Bennet will be seniors. Spangler will be a sophomore.
And Neal isn't much of a true post guy.

I think he'll probably aim to get another transfer. Seems to be LK's mo a little. GOod big men are hard to find.

We only have 4 to give next year, 3 if count Henry as being committed, which a lot of folks think he is.

You are probably forgetting that Cole gets a scholarship next year.

So we'll have, for sure, M'Baye, Spangler, Bennett, and Cole as bigs next year. Definitely need to add too that.

Yep. I forgot Cole was promised.
And the Henry thing just places a HIGH premium on signing someone else in the post.

Judging by what I've read and heard, WT is right in that two of our ships will go to Henry and Cole.

Assuming that's the way the scholarships available in the 2013-14 class plays out, I believe Coach Kruger will need to be very selective in awarding the ships we'll have left. In other words, that could also place a high premium on signing a post with the potential to have an immediate impact. As I see it, we can't afford to take a flyer on any recruit in that class, regardless of position.

1. Henry has yet to qualify and it will be tough for him to qualify for next year. I will believe it when he is on campus.

2. I am sure the C. J. Cole thing is flexible because he is on an academic scholarship so if a big time player was available OU would be able to take them.

I really think Spangler is going to be good.

Finally took the time to watch the Jones video. I'm a fan of high-energy bigs who can step out and hit short range jumpers. Love his smile, too! And, the fish on the back of his jersey tells me that he is likely a young man with a high character.

What's not to like? Sign him up, Lon!

This is not meant to disparage the young man, but I would be careful putting too much stock in what someone wears. There are plenty of people that affix that fish to their car or person for show and not out of heartfelt belief.

Having said that, he looks like a guy that fits in well with what Kruger likes out of a big man.

Believe me, I know exactly what you mean, and agree with everything you said.

I don't always take things like that at face value. But when add the young man's great smile and easy-going demeanor into the equation, it's easier for me to believe that he may be sincere in his beliefs. Guess we'll find out if he ends up at OU.

Hearing there's a good chance Jones could be in Norman this weekend for a visit.

Im sure if we got him there would still be guys on here that would complain that we still cant recruit because Scout only has him at 101....we only want Top 100 guys......everyone else sucks and is unworthy of the Big XII. LOL
