Hey guys, this is my first year to REALLY follow HS (6A) hoops closely in OK, since my daughter returned to playing.

I have a question for you guys that follow it every year and this year in particular:

Does it appear the officials are just completely swallowing their whistles? Or, is this just playoff BB in OK?

Of the 4 games I watched this weekend in regionals, every one of them was a brawl with VERY few fouls called. Twice we won, twice we lost. I said it after we won that the games we horrible. Not fun to watch at all.

Just curious.

That is high school basketball in Oklahoma at the biggest classification.

It seems to get worse every year. It isn't against any one team, just fouls seem to be hard to come by unless you are shooting.

No lie brett. My daughter's Mustang squad has been terribly inconsistent this year but has pretty good talent and has played a really tough schedule. There's other issues, but they really have some good talent. They have 3 6ft posts that are pretty dang good. The ENTIRE offense is based around our post up game. With that said, they shot 2, count em, 2 FTs in the entire game against Edmond SF (BTW, Courtney Walker can go) with those coming with about a minute to play in the game. C'mon...I could see a guard-oriented, jump shooting team having that, but a post-oriented team...NO WAY.

Oh, and you should've seen the boys game - Mustang v. PCO...it was the epitome of awful. BOTH WAYS. Good grief!!!!

Officiating at the 5A and 6A levels has been abysmal for years. My kids went to a 4A school. Occasionally, 5A schools would play in the local invitational tournament. They always had a hard time adjusting to the fact that the officials actually blew their whistles and called fouls. They really hated it if Nighttrain Lane officiated a game because he actually called walks!

See, it'd be nice to see what you posted on a thread like this, but...
