Been a lot of whining about certain things that have happened to OU basketball of late. We've blown a couple of leads. We've had some scoring droughts. Well, osu is a fairly good ball team, and they blew a 20-something point lead last night, and turned around today and only scored two points in the first 8 minutes of the game. If you look around the country, that stuff is happening all over the place. Syracuse and Gtown played an overtime game today where both teams failed to reach 60 points, even with overtimes, and Cuse blew a double digit lead in the second half. Duke lost to a pretty bad Maryland team, and couldn't defend to save their lives. Michigan, a likely 2 or 3 seed, lost and didn't even reach 60 points. Not sure why OU fans lock on to what happens at OU, and act like it doesn't happen across the country. The difference in OU and those teams is that OU doesn't have the talent yet to overcome the "bad" times. But even good teams blow leads, lose games they shouldn't, and have scoring droughts.

Also, before the osu/KSU game, that was the most terribly boring game of basket-pong that I've ever seen. Geez. And the Big 12 Conference, for all they money they are passing out to member teams, needs to improve their television network. Twice tonight I've been sent to commercials during the middle of the game.

That is all. :)

The whining is happening because most here don't watch a lot of basketball outside the Big 12 so they have blinders on to Michigan, Duke, Syracuse, etc...

It has been more than 30 hours since the end of the Big-12 quarterfinal loss. The whining and angst is starting to peter out a bit.

I'm not saying I like it, I'm just saying it happens. And yes, it seems like ours were grouped together here at the end of the season, and that makes it more frustrating, but it is happening all around the country, to some pretty good teams, just about every night.

All good points. After over 40 yrs of following Sooner everything, I conceded a few yrs ago OUr fans like to whine, fire coaches, and bash players. Of course the internet makes it easier to follow/express.....:):)

I'm sure it's the same every where, but I don't visit any other team boards.........

Fans everywhere get emotional about their teams. There is a reason why all of us post on a board and don't Coach the team, play for the team, or are the athletic director

No doubt. I failed at my tongue in cheek comments......

Don't get me started on the young kids I work with, who complain because they are expected to work....

The worse loss of late was not one where we lost a lead late; it was one where we were not ready to play and got too far behind to come back.

Other than that (and I'll omit Texas for now) we lost some leads to good teams because we just don't have the guards needed to beat those teams on the road.

If a team could eliminate scoring droughts, then championships are possible. It obviously helps to have multiple players capable of attacking the basket and being able to finish. It is difficult to avoid droughts if you depend on jump shots.

Coach Kruger is in the process of building a team. As others have said in other threads, the OU teams in 2014-15 and 2015-16 could be special if the young players in (and coming into) the program gel and develop.

From reports it seems that there are some really hard workers in next year's sophomore class of Spangler, Hornbeak, Cousins and Buddy. Hopefully, Woodard and Booker are made of similar stuff. I just love groups of "3-star" players that work their tails off and "overachieve" as they accept good coaching.

Even with these disappointing halves of games down the home stretch of 2012-13, I think there is still good reason to expect a fun and exciting future, just ahead.

All I know is my Sooners are on the verge of dancing again!!! That is epic to me, and I don't care what any naysayers think......:clap:clap:clap

I agree. OU has been out of the dance too long. I like this team a lot, warts and all.

The program is on it's way back to consistency. Something we haven't enjoyed since Kelvin Sampson.

The season didn't end as we wanted, but if you would have told me we were a lock to make the tourney (per Lunardi's latest prognostications), I would have considered this season a major success. I still say that nobody wants to play us in the first round.

I all care about is that this team has won 20 games, will make the big dance and has a chance to be very good next year. It sure beats the Capel years by a long shot.

The team has collapsed over the past 3 weeks and our RPI has plummeted from the high teens to ~40 putting us on the bubble. That is a mathematical fact, not whining.

A comparison of our underachievement with the Syracuse Georgtown heavy weight tilt or Duke is delusional.

You can add the first half of tonight's Big 12 CG to my list above.

I was about to post the halftime score: KU 24 - KSU 16

This is a good example of the low-scoring games you addressed in your initial post. Low-scoring offenses have been all too common the last couple of years. This is definitely not the kind of performances one would expect to see in a game to decide the conference championship. :facepalm
