A potential Football/Basketball scheduling conflict

Or a 10-point underdog if they thought he wasn't. Did you watch that game Saturday night? Do you really think there is any way odds makers would have us favored if Trevor Knight was starting? Heck, TCU was playing with a slew of backups, and they would have won the game had their head coach not make a dumb decision after scoring that last touchdown.

I don't know about the odds-makers. I suspect they are fairly certain that Baker Mayfield will play in Bedlam.

I agree that it was not a good decision by TCU Coach Gary Patterson, but OU still had to get a stop on the 2-point conversion to win the game. Steven Parker made a wonderful defensive football play. It takes both good fortune and good play to win a conference championship.

A large part of the good fortune is that OU has been relatively injury free compared to teams like TCU and Baylor.

Baylor and TCU have fine football teams with very good coaches. Those were very big OU wins the past two Saturdays. Tough wins. Bedlam will be tough also, even with Baker at the offensive helm.

At the start of this season, I did not believe this OU football team could get to 10 or more wins. They have exceeded my expectations. The coaching changes have improved the team, as has the walk-on wonder, Baker Mayfield. Both the offense and defense are noticeably improved compared to last season.

I go to the basketball game and record the football game no question.

You don't know that TCU would have won in OT. Patterson certainly didn't think he would or he would have taken it to OT.

Yeah, he was playing with his 3rd team QB. He also knew if his defense was gassed or not. Maybe he didn't think they could keep OU from scoring from the 25 with a steady dose of Perine and Seiber waiting in the wings if they didn't punch it in.

All I know is I didn't feel good about OU's chances in OT at the time.

Of course I didn't know for certain. All I knew was our offense was "3 and out" almost the entire 2nd half...no way TCU's defense could have been winded. Our 'D' on the other hand, couldn't stop them in the 4th quarter, likely because they were exhausted. I believe the overwhelming consensus is that Patterson made a huge mistake and the OU fans owe him a Christmas card...mine is already in the mail :-)

I just heard Baker Mayfield is a "go" for this weekend so let's just hope he lasts the entire game.
