In the long run? I agree.
Next season? I'm not sure. Lets revisit after this year. If this OU teams wins 10-11 Big 12 games, and makes the Dance, I'm not sure next year's team will match that. And if they do, I'm nearly certain they won't "better" it. Guards win ball games. As much as we knock Grooms, he has been invaluable in getting the ball up the floor against some of the more talented teams. Pledger does WAY more than he gets credit for. Let's see if all those driving lanes are available for Hield next year with Spangler clogging up the middle, and the other defenders more than eager to leave Cousins or Woodard standing open in the corner, as opposed to Pledger, whom they aren't leaving.
It may be a case of having more true basketball talent next year.....and better athletes, but not really being a better team. All that, and we have to replace Osby too.
Time will tell.
Edit: I should add that it's not like I see next year's team falling off the map. I still think we're a 5th-7th place team in the Big 12, and one that will likely win 17-18 games at minimum. But that might not match what this year's team does.
