In the past, posters have hinted or even boldly stated that OU misses out on desirable women's basketball recruits because it isn't a top-notch academic institution. While I've never felt that was a fair assessment of OU’s present academic stature, I had no ammunition to argue otherwise and am far too lazy to attempt to acquire information to the contrary.

Yesterday, the arrival of the Winter issue of Price Magazine, a publication of The University of Oklahoma Michael F. Price College of Business, put that information in my hands.

Price College by the Numbers

5 The Center for Entrepreneurship Undergraduate Program ranking by The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur Magazine

7 The MBA Program ranking by CollegeAtlas.org in terms of affordability, academic quality, accessibility, GMAT average and job placement results

10 The Steed School of Accounting Undergraduate Program ranking by Public Accounting Report

11 Percentage increase of students enrolled in Price College over the past two years

14 The Steed School of Accounting Graduate Program ranking by Public Accounting Report

15 Number of new full-time faculty who joined Price College in the past year

18 The Center for Entrepreneurship Graduate Program ranking by The Princeton Review and Entrepreneur Magazine

20 Supply Chain Management Program ranking by Gartner

25 International Business Program ranking by U.S. News & World Report

43 Percentage of Price College seniors who study abroad before graduating

I think anyone would concede that if you want to study meteorology, OU is the place to go. You graduates of other colleges in other majors will have to come up with your own data!

Those rankings are great but I doubt that we are viewed in this light by young women who are recruits.

I think the key to them is the reputation of the school, ie Stanford and Duke. Also which education at which school will help me get a job and a better job. the Stanford and Duke prestige probably plays well there.

That does not explain UConn and Tennessee, Louisville and South Carolina.

The prestige of a Stanford or Duke education may not appeal to a lot of young ladies but it certainly will to some.

Bottom line I think the quality of the recruiters and the progarm are the most important thing. But some of the prestigious probably have a small advantage but the ones who go after big time basketball usually also have top coaches.
