Someone mentioned it some time ago in a thread (Coachtalk?), but why is Akolda Manyang not playing at Indian Hills CC? Is he still in school? Can he still qualify to get in OU if he doesn't finish the semester at Indian Hills? Athletic 7 footers are tough to come by….. we need him.

Manyang personal leave of absence

Leaving the team and leaving school are two different things. But it's cetainly not a good sign.

I've checked and checked and can't get answers... I think he's still in school and apart of the team. I've heard the plan is still OU but I don't know much more!

This is a different tone from a couple weeks ago.

Strange deal. Hope it works out but these things are often not good.

Guys, Manyang is not on his juco team anymore, but he is still taking classes and
OU plans on him being here this summer. He has had some personal issues to clear
up and it was better for him to sit out this semester and concentrate on studies. The
coaches at Indian Hills continue to support and help him .

OULeopard

I'm assuming the OU coaches feel that these issues will be behind him by the time he gets to OU?

It's never good when a player leaves his team for any reason. But if ouleopard says OU's coaches are still counting on him next fall, that's good enough for me.

As JK12 said earlier, leaving the team and leaving school are two different things.

If his Juco coaches are still supportive that is a good sign.

Guy was averaging like 5 & 5 at juco. He'd be riding the pine behind Spangler & Lattin anyway. Not a big deal as long as Buford and McNeace are ready to help.

Really really looking forward to Spangler + Lattin next year.

He was averaging 9 ppg before he left the team.

Looking like he'll never play a minute for OU

Pretty bad numbers.

His JC coach had him playing out of position as a stretch 4. At OU he will defend, block shots, and shoot 3 ft jump hooks.

I don't know if he will start or come off the bench. But, every staff member that has rendered a candid opinion believes that his presence will make the team better.

I don't care what his numbers were.

We can use a highly coordinated 7-footer. His highlights at least prove that.

I'm tired of seeing stiffs (like the Kstate big and Allen for osu) career it against us.

Why would he play a stretch 4 in Juco, but at OU he'll play the 5? You would think a JC would have less post depth than OU, and could use a 7-footer on the block.

Sounds like he won't be playing immediately if he makes it to OU anyway. Hope I'm wrong.

Am I forgetting an Aggie named Allen? Because their current big named Allen (Anthony) has scored just 2 and 4 points in his two games against us, so I assume you're not referring to him.
