Akolda Manyang

@rodgerbohn: 7'0 Akolda Manyang should help out immediately at Oklahoma.Made serious strides on offensive end and really competing w/@CoachJohnLucas1.

This is great news!

Thanks for posting

Love way Akolda Manyang plays through every whistle.Brings up intensity level of all the bigs. #Sooners

Big men this morning w/@CoachJohnLucas1 : AJ Hammons,Akolda Manyang,Cameron Ridley,Corey Petros,Jalen Reynolds,Khadeem Lattin are bigs.

Akolda Manyang continues to impress.Still rough around the edges, but has some serious moves on the block. #OU

Can this allotment of prospects coming in make up the difference that is lost from TaShawn leaving? I think they can. The strides it sounds like Lattin is making in and of itself has got to be pretty close. The number of other possible contributors makes me believe that the Sooners should not drop off of there level from this last year and should take another step forward. What a problem LK will have this next year and it's bound to mean that the Sooners are going to be pretty darn good in the foreseeable future. Boomer!

This is really great to hear. At 7'0 he was always going to be a great help on the defensive end with that kind of length. But reading that, sounds like he'll be able to more than hold his own on offense.

Man, can I just go to sleep and wake up on the first game day of the season? Not sure I can wait!

Would we want to all pool some money together and get one? Lol

Most juco recruiting sites aren't worth the money. I joined jucojunction (rivals) once and found it to be pretty much worthless. This one might be different, but I have my doubts.

Besides, Manyang is the only juco player we're interested in right now, and it's not likely they'll spend much time on covering a player who is no longer in junior college. JMHO

Haha yeah I agree. Lol My comment was more sarcastic. Do wish we had more coverage on Manyang. Probably the least known about OU signee ever hyped this much since the era of YouTube.

Least know? What do u want to know?

Why he left his team temporarily, any recent highlights of him from this year, key developments this year & summer.

Well you made it easy for me haha.

Yeah I mean we've seen a couple of short highlight films. Nothing from this last year or even him talking about his commitment or anything. He's just such a "big time get" for ou so is just wild to see one of our most high profile recruits not have any coverage.

I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that he's a JUCO guy. Even in football recruiting, the coverage of the JUCO transfers tends to be more limited. For one thing, I'm not aware of any scouting camps or summer league opportunities for JUCO players. If those do exist, they certainly aren't covered nearly to the level of high school prospects.

Plus, there's just more interest among both fans and media in high school sports. You can watch a lot of high school games on TV now. I'm not sure I ever recall seeing a JUCO event on television. It's no surprise that coverage of recruiting tends to correspondingly focus more on high school prospects.

There are some highlights of him that are available for viewing. This one is from his freshman year at Indian Hills and is my favorite. It shows he can run the court and is definitely a shot blocker. He's more agile than I expected from a young 7 foot kid. Also, he was probably a lot better last year as a sophomore. Akolda Manyang highlights

These are from HS in 2012 Manyang in HS and AAU

I can't wait to see him in action!!
