An apology regarding our message board software

Guys (and gals), I want to apologize.

I had every intention of upgrading to a newer/shinier version of this message board before the season started, and I'm just not going to be able to get it done.

I think this particular software is almost seven years old now. The videos no longer embed and can't do a lot of the bells and whistles the newer versions do -- like embedding tweets/instagrams/vines etc.

When I started this thing, I had no kids. Now, I have two. They really do get in the way of your hobbies, don't they?

Anyway, just wanted to let you know I recognize this thing is outdated and I plan to get it re-done. I just don't think doing it during the season is going to be ideal.

If any of you know of anyone who specializes in vbulletin message board upgrades/designs let me know.

Bells and whistles are nice, but content (and the people providing it) are much more important, and this board delivers in spades.

I think everyone really appreciates what you do. I still think you should take up a collection once in a while to defer costs. I have no idea what this costs you, but I would be willing to pay my fair share.

This is the best board of all and I appreciate your work. At 76 "new" doesnt always work well for me so please keep it simple . Wont someone (or someone you can commandeer) jump in and help? Strong arm someone!!

Oh come on guy, how can you do this to us? For many years each and every one of us has dug deep into our pockets when we had other needs and sent you zilch, absolutely nothing. And for this what do we get? A shiny new whiz bang board? Noooo. It's this same old clunker full of the best information you can get and the best posters. Thanks a lot. See if you get a Christmas tweet from me! What a weak excuse, two kids! What a slug.

Honestly, first and last place I look every day and if it weren't here I would go crazy trying to find all the great stuff that is here.

I prefer the board just as it is. It is a very clean, uncluttered look and really makes the posts pop.

I know the way of the world is to embed and tweet and all that other nonsense, but you have a really good looking board here right now, JUST the way it is.

I think we'll be able make the upgrades, add some bells and whistles and keep a similar/clean look. I agree with you on the simple format. That's what I'll definitely be shooting for. I don't like change either.

And if I feel like the changes are going to be too drastic, then we'll just keep this one rolling for as long as possible.

I've played around on the Test board trying to embed a tweet with no success either. It makes sense if the software is 7 years old. Of course I wrote a lot of code in Cobol and Fortran, too, but there isn't as much demand for that stuff these days as there was 30 years ago.

Come on OUHoops. You only have 2 kids and I have 3. That's no excuse. Of course mine are grown and out of the house...... :ez-laugh:

I like it just fine as well. If the upgrade is going to make it more labor intensive to manage for you don't do it on our account. It is my favorite board as far as ease of use. Those of us with families understand. I still have a couple of rifles boxed up with their scopes that I have not had a chance to do in oh the last 5 years. Investing time in your kids is important, us not so much so.

You need to upgrade the board, so that I can "like" every post above mine. It is the beat OU basketball board out there. I read more than I post, but really appreciate the content and layout of this board.
