I watched Ana (pronounced Aw na) play as Choctaw beat Lawton easily. She is athletic, can shoot from outside, shoots the mid-range jump shot, and she can get to the rim. I would say good ball handler but not Gabbi good. She plays hard and grabbed a decent number of rebounds. She is a good defender but there is room for improvement. She isn't selfish and she readily looks to find an open shooter. For a sophomore, there is a lot to like!

Not sure how many points she had but probably on the 20s. She was easily the best player on the court.

Nice report Norm, sounds like she could help OU out now...

She basically only played 3 quarters because Choctaw had a big lead.

Size and build, I would say she resembles Nina Davis from Baylor.

She is a guard, but she plays like Davis?

Great report Norm, I will be at gym to see Wilson at 1:00 and Johnson at 7

I'm still not sure how to pronounce Ana's last name but it sounded like LaLansa. If someone knows for sure, please post it.

I tell myself the same thing. A lot like Nina Davis

It's nice to know someone else who has seen Ana play had the same thoughts that I did. Actually Nina Davis is the first player I thought of as soon as I realized that #23 was Ana.

The pronunciation is:
La Newsa

Thanks Cuda! I knew it doesn't sound like it's spelled but I wasn't sure what the announcer was saying. I'm not great with names but feel it is important to learn how to pronounce them if they are going to be Sooners.

Actually, its sounds exactly like it's spelled:

Lla (Lä) nusa (noo-sä)

Mac, as you know, it is very difficult to find really good all-around players. Some are like Derica who can shoot the three but is not effective at driving to the rim. You might find a good shooter out to 15 ft but who cannot shoot the three well. I thought Ana's game is more like Gioya's than anyone else at OU. Gioya can do everything well. I would say she needs to take better care of the ball at times but the things she does well are very similar to the things Ana does well. Obviously I'm not saying Ana is as good as Gioya and may never be that good (who knows) but, she does have the potential to have that kind of overall game.

Sounds like she is about the same size as Davis, but Ana Is a guard, I remember one of her old high light videos and it did look like she had somewhat of a Post game I could see her as the 4 in a small ball line up Sherri likes to run.

I would say most of her shots were taken outside of 12 feet but she looked very comfortable taking the ball inside. You never know what will happen in 2 years or what Sherri's needs might be then but I would say she is a typical 2/3.

So, we should have a 6-10 (6-9) post, a 6-5 forward, a 6-0 and a 5-11 guard from 15, 16, 17? A 5-9 guard would seem like an anachronism.
