Terrible terrible attitude.
That said, I don't know his personal situation. I hope he suceeds but wish he was never a sooner.
I agree about the attitude but if you know the struggle that innercity youth has to go through maybe people on this site would cut the kid some slack, the economy is bad for everyone this kid maybe the mealticket for his family at this time who knows.
I agree about the attitude but if you know the struggle that innercity youth has to go through maybe people on this site would cut the kid some slack, the economy is bad for everyone this kid maybe the mealticket for his family at this time who knows.I think the kid feel he is doing what is best for his family it was not a secret to coach Capel that this kid just wanted to play one year, most innercity kids got to grow up fast not by choice either and everyone have had spelling problems one time are another God knows i have and yes tmg needs alot of help in the diction catergory but he should not bare that blame alone.I think his highschool should take blame for his spelling,Ou should share responsibilty and his parents. The highschool should have not passed him threw like they do mos innercity kids, and his parents should have not allowed them to pass him without special attention in that area and they should have worked with him on his spelling at home, and Ou should have known this kid had a diction problem among oher things. But in saying all of that i disagree with you when you said you wish he was never a sooner if he was not a sooner they would have not won the games that they won so why not support his decision to leave just as we supported his decision to come to OU.
He had a decent season offensively, but defensively is a totally different story. I'd go so far as to say AJ's frosh year in 2006 was a better season at PG than TMG had this year particularly because (a) that team had a winning record and advanced to the NCAA tourney and (b) AJ played on both ends.
You are probably right...i just saw a guy that was ultra talented and was asked to do way too much for a freshman PG...he had to shoulder the role of shooter and scorer about midway through the season and excelled in those two areas...and the only reason he slowed down to some degree is because he was the only consistent weapon on this team and other teams knew if they shut him down so went the Sooners...
Defensively there is not much you can say to make him look much better, but i do think i saw him trying for the most part (emphasise most part)...all of these players looked bad on defense this year because there was never any helpside defense, and if there was the help the helper aspect broke down...so it is hard for me to just say the guy cant play defense, but he def could have shown a lot more intensity...
I know no one will remember him as the best freshman PG at OU because of the outcome of the season and him leaving early, but his season was one of the best all-time reguardless of how he is remembered...it's just a shame he couldnt grow here at OU and become an amazing college basketball player...
Wish him the best...
However, had he stayed at OU all 4 years, he would have gone down as probably the 2nd best PG in OU history behind Mookie. Who knows, he may have even passed Mookie if he dedicated himself.
I hadn't really looked at it that way. Maybe your right and I'm wrong, certainly wouldn't be the first time (I've been wrong).
I'll also add, considering OU hasn't had many frosh PG's start in the last 30 years (as most were JUCO), I don't think that's saying much that he had the best season of a frosh PG at OU. However, had he stayed at OU all 4 years, he would have gone down as probably the 2nd best PG in OU history behind Mookie. Who knows, he may have even passed Mookie if he dedicated himself.
I would take Quannas White, John Ontes, and Mookie over him. Just off the top of my head.
