Big boost for him in today's LA Times(1/22/12).
A 6'7 wing jump shooter. In fact his coach(to his credit) is not going to
play him inside but let him develop as an outside shooter.
Anybody heard anything about this kid?

I know nothing about him, but he's rated 143 nationally by rivals and sounds like he'd jump on an offer from a program like OU. He committed to UTEP but chose not to sign, and he said recently that he'd think about decommitting if San Diego State or UNLV (two other programs looking at him) offered. I'd think a major conference team could get in pretty quick if they wanted.

Dont know much about him. Taft HS reminds me of some of the old documentaries they have been playing on ESPN Classic. One is the Nick Young story. The other is Hoop Dreams.

I googled William Gates and it turns out his son William Gates Jr. is a 2013 recruit in Chicago. Crazy because just a few years ago his dad played for Marquette and squared off against OSU when they had Big Country and Brooks Thompson.

I guess that was a while back. But 1993 doesn't seem like it should be that long ago.
