Any redshirt candidates?

Walker will not redshirt. He isn't a point guard at all and will be way down the depth chart as a wing. He may help us if somebody gets injured but he isn't being counted on this year.

James and Odomes are having great summers and are improvements over Walker and Booker. Hopefully Dante is also improving and will help. I haven't heard anything about him this summer. Odomes is smaller but he will remind people of Kelly Oubre with his game.

Thanks for the info. Any recruiting nuggets?

I agree about Walker. He was fearless last year when he tried to penetrate to the basket, but often was out of control. Also, his outside shot was suspect. Cousins is a better PG than Walker, so Isaiah will likely be the backup when Woodard is out.

The only practice I watched this summer, Odomes was really active and had a lot of slick, quick power moves to the basket. He isn't as tall as Oubre (6'5" vs 6'8") but has a much more solid build. The only part of his game I didn't particularly like, was the form on his 3 point shot .... kind of a shot put. That was a month ago.

I thought Buford looked good, too. I've said before that his game reminds me of Cam Clark, except Buford is an inch or 2 taller. His game looks smooth and under control, but he doesn't have the "moves" of Odomes. His mid-range jumper looked OK. He looks comfortable going inside and battling on the boards, too. I think he will get some minutes at the 3 and the 4.

That's kind of my 2¢ assessment. My observations weren't of a scrimmage, but were half court 30-second simulations. They were just short bursts that they ran over and over, then went to another situation.

I heard that James is looking very good but depending on the others it is possible he could redshirt. Isaiah has looked great at the point which may give Jordan a little more rest or the occasional trip down the floor off the ball.

Dante has worked more at the four so far. It could be happening since AK is hurt.

First team offense has to do pushups after a turnover this summer.

Khadeem is shooting the 3 very well and should have the green light from there this season. He is an athletic freak.

Latin has a beautiful jump shot. It didn't always fall for him last year but it will in time.

I hear you. Just hope he's spending as much time working on low post moves as his 3-pointer. I'm sure he is.

Good stuff. In the practice I watched, Buford was working a lot at the 4 and AK was there. He looked very comfortable in the post. I think he will get minutes at both the wing and the 4 because they want him on the floor a lot. Odomes may take some of his minutes at the 3.

Honestly, Buddy and Isaiah will play 60 minutes a game between them, but some of Isaiah's minutes will be at the point. Counting Woodard's minutes as 30, there will be only 30 minutes a game available for perimeter reserves. Those will be divided between Buford, Odomes, James, and Walker. Somebody will lose out on playing time one way or another. Redshirt?
