IF those were guys at OU, people would be SCREAMING that they were busts and in today's world they would be wanting them to transfer.
This will be Harris’ fourth year as a starter. Played sparingly as a true freshman, but by his second year, he was the starting PG on a national championship team. And he was a lower rated recruit than Cole, so I think it’s fair to say it’s reasonable to think Cole not being expected to play much for a much worse OU team in his second year is a bit of a disappointment.

I’ll give you KJ as far as his first year, but again, he was a really good player by his sophomore year. That’s the kind of development we need, but aren’t getting. We don’t have a single high school recruit under Moser who has come to OU, made significant improvements, and become a long term, key cog in the program. If Cole doesn’t play much of a role this season, do you really have faith he will be around next season, let alone play a significant role?

Scrimmage starts at 1. Elvis, Miles, Jones, Moore and Godwin are the starters.

Also says Forsythe and Cole are in the next 5, with Goodine being 11th
Seems odd since Goodine is one of the guys he has hyped all preseason. One of his articles compared him to Gibson as far as being the best shooters we have had under Moser.

Weird it’s like he heard something last week because didn’t he say smaller role than originally anticipated. Maybe he got hurt? Or Lusk was just hyping him up and realized he was wrong?

Probably the latter since he hypes up all our guys. But still not a good sign that you bring in a senior transfer who might not be good enough to make your rotation. It’s almost like some of these guys were low major players for a reason!

I'll admit I can barely keep the names straight, having not seen them play, but do we figure Fears is in the second group just because he's a freshman?

I may be wrong but isn’t goodine rehabbing a knee?

I was always skeptical of Goodine being a major rotation player for Moser because of his defense. Hopefully I’m wrong because his shooting stats are elite.

Sixth year player with a pretty low ceiling. Didn’t do anything of note at his two previous stops at power conference schools. If he were surrounded by a bunch of really good players, he could potentially be an important contributor as a knockdown shooter, but that’s not the situation he finds himself in here.

Agreed. His veteran presence & shooting will be counted upon if there are injuries or a few people are struggling.

That'd be my guess. I think the starters (or 5 guys with most minutes) when it's all said and done, barring injuries, will be Fears, Elvis, Jones, Godwin, & Moore. Maybe someone over Elvis, but I feel pretty confident on the other four.

Don't know how much he will play, but from what I saw, Goodine looked pretty athletic and didn't look hurt. Cole may be coming off of a knee injury, but he didn't look hurt or hesitant from what I saw. He looked pretty good to me. He was listed as the same height as Moore, but looked an inch or so taller to me. In any event, I think he is more of a 4 than a wing. I would see Cole and Taylor as being in competition with Moore and not with the true perimeter guys. I think people will be surprised at how good Cole is when you get to see him. Just might not get the minutes this year that he will after Moore leaves. Like I have said before, one of the most interesting things about this team for me will be who and how many Moser plays at the three outside positions. As for Fears, if it was me I would play him on the wing. His potential as a scorer is really unique to me. My comparable at this point is the Monk kid (arkansas or Kentucky -- can't remember). Can get to and above the rim and finish and can really elevate and get off his jumper. His shot looked really fluid and sound to me (what do I know about it) but didn't make many when I watched. But, he is supposedly a good shooter.

Thanks coach. I listened this morning. Talked about many of the kids. Said he just hasn’t figured out his rotations yet. He said normally not a problem but his 8,9,10 and 11 guys can play. Usually they can’t. As you would expect he seemed positive about the team. You can tell he is excited about fears. I get that for sure

Appreciate the post, I forgot to listen. His depth comment makes me laugh. The annual "we too deep" claim in October, but by the time January rolls around, we will likely struggle to find 7 or 8 SEC quality players to put on the floor.

I did see Lusk just post that Moser indicated there is at least a possibility that Nwankwo may play at some point this season depending on his recovery. He said they are waiting to find out how many games he could play and qualify for a medical redshirt. Unless the medical redshirt rule has changed, I don't know what that means. Those have always been for situations where a guy suffers a season-ending injury. I don't know how it could apply if a guy gets hurt but then is medically cleared to play and does, in fact, return to action.

Wichita: He wasn't talking about a medical redshirt. Apparently, the NCAA is thinking about letting kids play a certain number of games and still redshirt. They have asked for clarification and don't have it yet. He said Jeff would definitely be out until the end of December but depending on the new rule, maybe he could play some later in the second semester. But, either way, he was not going to do anything that would keep him from redshirting.

BTW, on next Wednesday he said they are going to have an open "Red v. White" scrimmage in the Noble arena so the fans can see the kids before the season starts. I didn't hear him say what time it would be.

As far as whether players will be SEC quality, you just can't know until they play. We have been playing SEC competition for the last three years. I will be surprised if Sam, J Moore, Fears, Elvis and Jones aren't competitive. Good enough to win usually, who knows. It will be tough most nights.
