Any word on Issanza and Garang?

Wish I was close enough to see practices. I too would like a report on them versus the bar room chatter we seem to get.
Thanks for the question.

And Merritt too. Curious to hear if any will be contributors.

ummmm....not well I guess? since no answers? lol...

j/k

Sounds like no one been to the practices? How about a practice report.

This team is in desperate need of big men, yet none of those guys are playing. That should tell you all you need to know.

I would say OU has two of the most productive "big men" in the league. Doolittle and Manek likely do not have an equal in terms of offensive production in the league.

Agreed. Also Kur has started to provide quality minutes more consistently.

Hmm, interesting you ignored the other 50% of the game, where we are in desperate need of capable interior defenders.

Both players were to be red shirted when they came on board. The question still is to be answered as to a practice report. It was my understanding that Garang
was not recruited as a big interior player. Still would like a practice report on how Issanza is developing.

Preseason reports had Garang shooting very well from behind the line.

I went to two preseason practices. My take on the two is dated but as follows: Garang is bean pole thin, but really skilled for his size. He is listed at 6'8, but looks taller than that. He has extremely long arms. It is kind of weird due to his size and length, but he is definitely a guard. He dribbles, passes and shoots from the outside like a guard. On one of the practices I went to, the team scrimmaged a little and he hit 2 or 3 threes. He is so big he looks goofy on the outside but that is where he will play if he gets to play. Seemed as quick as our other wings but I don't know for sure. I don't know about next year, but if he is a hard worker, I could see him being a really good player.

Rick is tall and very athletic. Just didn't see him enough with the ball to form an opinion as to his skill level. He is thin but I could see him putting on 20-25 pounds like KK. I know I would have given him a scholarship. But, like a said, I just didn't see him with the ball enough to give a scouting report.

Thanks, cowboy!

Your breakdown on both players is encouraging. Garang, in particular, appears to be a skilled player with a chance to be really good someday. The jury is still out on Issanza to some extent, but athletic seven footers with some potential almost always have a place on a team if they work hard.
