Apology to the fans

Summary:
There is plenty of blame to go around. Coaches and players get the most blame for the disappointing season in several years.

Apologize for what?

grow up fans!!

You don't just "recruit in a JUCO for leadership". It rarely works that way. Maybe a support guy, but someone inside either has to immediately step up or otherwise others grow into the role. The thing that helped woodard mesh well with Isiah and Buddy is also the thing that hurts him this season - he's a good support guy but not a vocal leader or focus point. thats cool. it is as it is. We've just needed someone to step up and thats still in process.

quit expecting a finished product and quit trying to gauge success so far. just enjoy watching them grow and trust the coach.

Disagree. If there is any blame to assign, it's on "fans" and posters here who had unrealistic expectations. As cool said, we need to look for progress and improvement and trust the process. We have fewer wins than we all thought but that doesn't mean there's no progress being made and -- and I've said this several times here -- anyone who thought all these young guys wouldn't struggle or who believes that their struggles aren't related to their youth is delusional.

Can't believe we still have a year of Lattin. Is there anyone who's had a bigger gap between expectations and output in recent OU basketball history? Just no fee for the game.

umm....christian james for me.

I was never high on lattin

oh, and lon doesn't owe us crap. We are fans. period. Through the good and the bad. If you are expecting an apology, chances are you are a crappy fan

Maybe it's not realistic to expect an impact juco anymore, but you can't tell me a grad transfer wouldn't have helped this team. Someone with confidence and stability who could be on the court, get a bucket when needed and settle down the youngsters. Case in point: Canyon Berry. He was a difference maker for Florida when he entered. I'm not saying we could we could've gotten him, but it shows the potential impact of a grad transfer.

I'm not looking for an apology, just wanted to point out that some blame should be leveled at Kruger; he's not sacrosanct.

And don't lecture me on enjoying the process when we get curb stomped by 30 on our own floor. Even in down years I expect us to fight more than that.

Pritchard decommitted very late which killed us. Also we were in the last 2 for grad transfer Jon Gillon who went to Syracuse and is averaging 9pts & 5 assists. If we get either of these guys then Woodard is the 2 and our season would be a little better. Don't act like Kruger isn't doing everything possible (that is within the rules) to get great players and fill the needs of this team. It didn't work out with those 2 and their wasn't enough time to fill the scholarship with a good PG. That's why if we miss out on Young or another grad transfer next year will only be a little better than this year without a quality PG. It's the most important position in college for a reason.

Also to think Kruger owes us an apology is ridiculous. He led the team to the Final 4 last year doing things the right way.

THIS is my biggest thing. Right here. I honestly, 100% feel like Bob Stoops and Lon Kruger are both successful while trying to do things the right way. I really appreciate that from them. All that pressure and they dont cave in and cheat or give away the farm to save ego. I dig that.

Coach Kruger needs to issue a public apology to the fans for his team's lack of effort and losing in an embarrassing fashion today. Frankly, for the amount of losses already this year. He's making millions. This is unacceptable.

James isn't too far behind.

Is the statement you are critical of bear accuracy or a complete lack thereof?

Those first two quotes are the reason I never post – and seldom even log in – the first day or two after a loss.

And that last post? I still don't know what it means.

This is really smart. I should follow your lead. I try to stay out of the game threads.
