Article in the Wichita Eagle- Buddy Hield

Great read on Hield! Obviously the reporter believes he compares favorably to Perry Ellis, a KU signee and a player OU recruited hard for two years or more. Sure hope he's right.

There is a high school basketball team in Wichita that has a player comparable to Perry Ellis in national stature, and I’m not talking about North and Conner Frankamp.

The player I’m talking about is Buddy Hield and I’ll give you $10 if you know who he is or where he plays.

While Ellis’ career at Heights has been heavily chronicled, Hield plays in relative anonymity just a couple of miles from Heights at Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, where he averages 22 points for the nation’s 10th-ranked academy basketball team, as rated by MaxPreps.com.

Hield is an impressive speciman on video and in the photos I've seen. He has a ready-made college guard body that could give him a legitimate shot at contributing as a freshman at OU.

I couldn't help but notice the pad contact drill Sunrise Prep puts their players through. That's a new one to me.

Thanks for posting, Wyatt!

I hope Hield plays a lot of minutes at the 3. I don't like SF types, I like big guards, and I think that is what Hield is.

Woodard
Parker
Hield

I salivate just thinking about it.

Me, too.

Hornbeak is another newbe I'm excited about. I was really impressed with what I saw of him on the games I watched a few weeks ago. He is cool under pressure (actually, it's like he is never under any pressure). Everything he does is smooth and controlled. From what I saw, he is also a heady player with a high basketball IQ that will fit perfectly in Kruger's system.

If we can sign Woodward and Parker to go with Hield and Hornbeak and a player or two to be named later, plus the guards/wings we'll have coming back, our back court will be set for the next two to three years and beyond.
