Assistant Coach Matt Brady Resigns

That was the most uncomfortable I've seen Porter on camera.

Fact.

Won’t affect recruiting. Will say I heard great things about big Ryan Humphrey! Kids love the Ou connection.

The whole thing was awkward, weird, and a lot of deflecting. Oh well. Most talent we've had in a while. I got some hope and stuff.

I don’t expect him to air things in public, but it also seems silly to say he hasn’t given it any thought because he is focused on Sam Houston. Given the lack of anything resembling a legitimate OU basketball beat, I wonder if we will ever really find out what happened.

I interpreted it as he hadn't thought of the replacement process yet. That's probably not entirely honest, either, but it might be close to true, as this team should be able to survive a decent amount of time being down one assistant coach. He definitely didn't sound happy about this situation, though. He's either pissed at Brady (which means it's not health), compliance, or being asked repeatedly. My confidence reducing at each one.

Yep. Testy

I haven't watched his body language very closely, but I didn't see testy in that. I did see slight deflection, and obviously didn't want to discuss it anymore.:)

I was surprised Porter didn’t appear to be better prepared for those questions. But, it’s not unusual for a boss to be uncomfortable with answering questions regarding an employee who reportedly resigned due to personal reasons.

We may never know why Matt Brady left OU. “Personal reasons” typically means it’s “none of your business!” Fans like us will accept that, as we should. I just hope reporters will see it that way, but I wouldn’t count on it!

If Brady's departure were the only one the staff had seen in recent months, I think there would be less of a push for more info, but it isn't. I'll admit I'd like to have a better idea why Brady is leaving. Not every detail, but knowing that it was health-related or something to do with his family or that he and Moser weren't a good mesh or whatever the case may be would help. Coach Moser is still largely an unknown quantity to the fan base and not knowing why we've lost several assistants in a relatively brief time is a bit frustrating. Any tidbit of additional info Brady could have shared in departing would have been appreciated.

Moser reminds me of Rodney Dangerfield in Caddyshack. The guy always cracking one liners and making people laugh. Always upbeat, positive. Just never seen him like that I guess.

I get that. Hopefully, it isn't a pattern that will cause us future problems.

Per OU 247, Moser is about to make an assistant hiring.

Former Big 12 HC

Bruce Weber?
Sean Sutton?

Can't think of many others...Jim Christian?

Pretty impressive to already have a coach lined up. I was wondering about if it was a Sutton. Sean is still an assistant at tech, right? Scott Sutton is director of basketball admin at osu, maybe he wants to be an assistant coach again?

If it’s Bruce Weber, home run. As an X’ sand o’s / game prep guy, he’s an A+.

If it’s Doc Sadler then here will be bigabd:

If it is a former Big 12 head coach, Weber makes the most sense off the top of my head. There aren't that many who would make sense who aren't currently coaching somewhere. Weber is working with BTN as a commentator right now, though.

If you can't beat 'em, hire them as an assistant

Another former coach not doing any coaching currently is Jeff Bzdelik. That seems more far fetched though.
