Austin Grandstaff

Any read scoops take on Austin??? Please recap...

I feel Florida's national championship run is this year because their team is built around four seniors our team will be better in 2015 because our three guards and Spangler will be seniors and if he wants to have a chance to win a national championship he will choose the Sooners.

Is Florida really better? Our fan support sucks, but weren't not number one, either.

I was only talking about 2015 recruiting. I believe our chances in this year's tournament are really good and can't wait for it to start.

Grandstaff's grandparents are both OU grads and really want him at OU. Hopefully
that will play a role in it

He is my #1 want for the 2015 class.

I think he will be better than Shake. Trier might end up being better than Grandstaff, but I think we have a better chance with Grandstaff, and I simply like the way he fits on our roster.

I'm confused. Isn't he from Dallas? Someone earlier said he was an OU ballboy growing up? Did he live in Oklahoma at one time or did his parents drive him from Dallas to Norman every game so he could fulfill his ballboy duties? And, every recruit is different, but it wouldn't seem he was too much into UT. UT slow plays recruits all the time in every sport and most of the time even when they offer late the lifelong UT fan recruits jump on it. Who knows?

It's not something he got to do every game likely, but a couple games I'm sure. Just a few saturdays, come up from Dallas and get to be a ball boy that day. Not like there is a lot of training involved

Just to add, they used to rotate ball boys, my little league coach was the brother of Coach Raines on Sampson's staff so guys on my team got to rotate being ball boys during the season

Scout has an article on Grandstaff after his Florida visit. In that interview he says Florida is up with his top schools but the tone of this interview did not make it sound like he was leaning to Florida. The interview also mentioned his OU visit and he stated OU's style of play fit him and also mentioned it was only a 3 1/2 hour drive to Norman. The interview said he may visit Ohio State in April and that he wanted to come and visit OU and Ok State again.

The tone of this interview would lead you to think OU is a school very much one of the top three or so schools for his LOI.

I want to keep him away from the Ok State campus, simply because he committed there once before, which means he was comfortable with the environment...

Ohio State doesn't scare me because of their style of play.

Wait until he sees OK state play another season under Ford without Markell and Marcus Smart to save them....

His dad is an AAU coach, I have to believe he knows a sinking ship when he sees one (thus the decommitment)

Style of play as well as distance. I would be shocked if he signs with a school as far from home as Ohio State or Florida.

I'm not too concerned about Okie State either. The problem that caused him to renege on his commitment has not gone away. Ford is still there, and likely will be at least one more season. Berry Tramel's editorial in this morning's newspaper centered around the coaching mistakes Travis has made in the final minutes of games this season. He also talked about his tenuous position as OSU's head coach, due to a growing number of unhappy fans, some of them major donors.

I would worry more about a school like SMU or UT, should the whorns decide to get involved in recruiting him.

they are both involved now. Maybe too late. he recently visited smu already.. unofficial. UT has saw the last few games he played.

I'm simply not going to allow myself to stress over Grandstaff's recruitment. Sure, it would be great to get the kid; but he's being courted by several high profile schools and it will be a miracle if OU is able to get him to come to Norman. Maybe Lon can get it done.

I hope we get him, but I'm very encouraged about our next two seasons (and beyond) – with or without Austin Grandstaff.

Lattin had offers from Arizona, UT, and Georgetown.

Woodard had an offer from Memphis.

Buddy had a Memphis offer, and interest from some bigger schools.

It's hard pulling those top notch kids out of dfw...

I hope we get him more than anyone, it's just reality.
Lon, Henson, lew and cutch can recruit!!

I feel the same way, scrybe. While I would be thrilled if Austin picks OU, I'm confident our coaches will continue to bring in good players like those already on campus and on the way next year.

Taking an official visit to Ohio State this weekend.

Taking an official visit to Ohio State this weekend.

Michigan and Ohio st seem to be favorites. Closer to home could be a factor.
