OU has the 4th highest expenses behind UCONN, Baylor, and ND.

Must be the trips to the Islands in the preseason. Other than that it doesn't make much since.

That is really interesting isn't it? Especially that 3 of the top 7 are Big-12 teams and another (A&M) is an ex-Big-12 team.

I wish it was broken down to show where those expenses go - and if all schools report expenses the same way.

Baylor's probably includes the cash they give to recruits but I don't know if UCONN includes that part or not. ;) ;) ;) :ez-roll:

Just teasing about that last part, but it is surprising to see the list.

Per the 2013-14 University of Oklahoma Athletic Department Annual Report the athletic departments total revenue was $111,000,000 and expenses were $110,950,000. Women's basketball revenue was listed at 1% or $1,110,000 and their expenses were 4% or $4,438,000.

Net, net WBB spends four times as much as it makes.

I think all the players are on endowed scholarships - so the actual total expense would be greater.

No, the scholarship payment should still be an expense; or not - depending on how they want to show it. Note that Lloyd Noble is not owned by the athletic department, all the space rental there is an expense. The bottom line is whatever the athletic department wants it to be.

Note that we see two different figures listed for the 2014 expenses in different posts above, and they are about 1.1 million apart from each other. I'm sure that both figures are accurate and defendable - depending on whose rules you use.

The one figure I'm really skeptical about would be that we outspent Texas in real money.

We pay $1.1 million annually to Sherri Coale.

This is almost double the second-highest in Big 12, Iowa State's guy (doesn't include Baylor obviously, because they're not subject to public records). Texas' only makes $500K right now.

So yeah, I'm not as skeptical that we outspend Texas right now. Back when whorn had ex-Dukie coach, maybe not.

I noticed the expenses Spock posted are for 2013-2014. The post I made only refers to 2014 so I don't know if there is a difference in the starting and ending dates of the opposing numbers.
