Berry Tramel: Too Cool for School

Lost me at women's basketball...kidding (sort of).

Agree with Trammel though, why stay if you're not happy? He wants to play professionally, give it a shot. Sucks that it screws us, however.

It's simple really. Some of the things that people enjoy about the women's game that the men's game doesn't have (or doesn't have enough of):

1) Student Athletes. Athletes who actually want to be in school and get their degrees.

2) Team work - players who care more about winning the game than they care about their own personal stats.

3) Players that embrace their role as ambassadors for the university and state.

4) Players that play for the love of the game rather than the hope that they'll make a financial killing in the future.

It's not that there are none of the men's players who exhibit these traits. It's just that there aren't enough of them.

I wasn't disagreeing with you...there are exceptions to everything stated above, but it is not worth getting into.

Fortunately (I guess), no one is forced to watch those unathletic, turnover prone women play basketball. It just does seem a shame, however, that many fans just don't seem to get it when it comes to women's college basketball.

Edit: By the way: Great post, MsProud!

I agree that there are exceptions. Cade Davis is an exception in the men's game. There are also female players who don't fit the criteria above. One reason my daughter gave up basketball when she hurt her knee was because she didn't like playing with girls who cared more about their own stat line than they cared about winning the game.

But, read the post game comments by the KSU players from last night. They are a team in every sense of the word. That's what being on a team is supposed to be like.

lol Give me a break that women play better team ball. I love it that Cade is thrown into that mix though. So I guess you have to be unexceptional to play team ball?

And yeah womens basketball is really exploding. The WNBA has been a huge hit. NOT.

That was just another boring negative article from a low quality newspaper. I'll stick with the NY Times.

If you can't see what the women's game has that this team needs desperately, there's not much hope for you. It has nothing to do with how high they jump or how fast they run. It has everything to do with players to give 100% for their team instead of worrying about who's stats are better. That's what this team was missing this year - not talent.

Yeah, Scrybe: Tell me how much more fun it's been to watch men's basketball this year. I think you're the one that doesn't get it.

The Oklahoman needs better headline writers. That headline doesn't match the article at all.

Thanks for coming to my defense, MsProud. I thought anyone who read my post would realize I was defending the ladies. Oh, well…

Oops! Your sarcasm was far too subtle for me! You just sounded like the kind of post I would expect here.

yeah tell that to Cornell. If we had 5 Cade Davis' starting we would score 50 ppg and be winless.

If all the players we put on the court this year had Cade Davis's heart, we wouldn't be having any of these conversations post season. For the most part, what we saw this year was talent with no heart. As evidenced by our record, talent without heart is useless.
