Before answering this question, please remove the Crimson glasses and give an honest opinion. Which of our players do you think will be the best in the Big 12 at their position this coming year?

My first thought was KayKay... IF she can find a way to stay on the floor. Her minutes were so limited by fouls, and yet she was usually quite productive. I would love to see a breakdown of her foul stats -- how often she picked up 2 early on, minutes per game, her productivity between fouls #1 & #2 and #2 and #3. I am very excited for how dominant her senior season can be if she plays complete games.

BUT -- she's also competing against Nina Davis, and I think Nina Davis has "Best Big 12 Forward" in the bag.

Same with Gabbi. I don't think she can compete with Niya Johnson's insane assist-turnover ratio next year.

Therefore, my answer is.... the Gioya Carter + Peyton Little combo. I think, by the end of next season, they will be the best guard combo in the conference. Is that fair? :)

I'll begin with Gabbi. While Niya has a high A/T ratio, I think that is more due to the fact that she has some people who hit shots, and nobody else who sets them up. Different type of guard. I think Gabbi brings something that if Niya had, Baylor might not have been beaten in the Big Twelve. Gabbi is better as a floor general. I suspect that Gabbi will have a take over year this year.

I'd go with McGee-Stafford over Kay Kay unless Kay Kay develops something that she hasn't show, a determination to stay on the floor and hit her shot.

PF is no contest with Davis.

I want to see how Maddie turns out this year. I still think she may be the key to our future.

I'm not convinced we have anyone who would be considered a favorite to be first in the conference at their position.
BUT......if our team improves like it has a chance to, Gabbi could increase her stats enough to be considered. IF KayKay can stay on the floor and consistently score, even over players taller than here, she has the ability to be considered. If either Peyton or Gioya make that upperclassman mentality improvement, always bring the a game, and then step it up at crunch time, we do have the chance either could be best at their position. And if Maddie and ViVi improve health-wise plus make that improvement that experience brings, either could be the best player in the conference off the bench (I don't know who might start-just going on last year). And do we have 2 players who might be best freshman?
You can win big with a CP3 or a Griner, but also if you have a talent throughout your team, and I think that is what we need to hang our hat on, effort and team.

Johnson is the beneficiary of a very efficient Baylor offense that opens player for 10-15 foot wide open shots and she and Davis are very clever with the screen and roll. Davis does a lot of slipping the screen and breaking back for an easy basket. That being said Johnson really takes care of the ball. She benefits because Baylor has a much better half court offense than we have. Gabbi will be a much better scorer so it is somewhat of a tradeoff.

Either Maddie or Carter could really breakout. Carter has that ability to take over a game and score 10-12 straight points.

Somehow don't see KayKay being the best center.

Little needs to be better at getting open. Excellent shooter but had trouble getting her shot in the tough games. We need to screen a lot more for her.

Let's not forget Baylor will have Alexis Jones next year.
The transfer from Duke who will have 2 years left. The race for POY will be a treat.

Gabbi at the point, and maybe Gioya or Maddie at the three. I think Stafford is just a better post than Kaylon at this point.

I agree with Sybarite. Maddie could very well be the key to our future. I think all she lacks so far is confidence and aggressiveness - neither of which is that far away for her.

I think Maddie and Carter could be dominant with Little and Gabbi not far behind. Any or all could be best in conference by end of next season.

If Maddie becomes a starter she will in all probably be at the 4. That means she would be compared to Nina Davis. I think anyone would pick Davis.

I like Gabbi a lot. But, Johnson is a magician when it comes to finding the open player. Since Johnson has the makings of a top 10 draft pick, I have to go with Johnson at the point.

I am looking at the 2 and 3 to see what competition Little and Gioya face. I think they are the only possibilities we have. I will decide later today.

Today -- only Gabbi.

Kay Kay is inconsistent. So is Little for that matter. Maddie may, but she's really going to have to step it up big time.

I just cannot see us beating Baylor or UT unless we have at least one top 5 player in the conference so I'm putting all of my marbles on Gioya.

I agree. Gioya have to be our best player if we going to have a shot to make a deep run this upcoming season imo.

Peyton was first team. But, there were 10 players on the first and 5 on the second team.
