Sherri just said that Sims is the best point guard in the country. Do you agree?

I thought Sherri said she's "one of the best," but she's definitely one of the best two (the other being Skylar Diggins, with Chelsea Gray being not too far behind). Where Sims is better than any other guard in the country is her defense. I'm afraid for Morgan, as I think Sims might have even improved a bit in her on ball defense.

A lot of coaches use that phrase about an opposing point guard when they are playing them the next game.

She might have just cause in this case.

I compare Sims to A'Quonesia Franklin in many ways, especially as a defender. I thought that both were effective because they got away with some extensive fouling. The difference is that I thought Franklin just fouled. Sims also seems to like to fight or provoke incidents. Almost every "incident" seems to involve Sims. I will wait to see if she can function on her own in the pros since I don't think she'll be held accountable in college. Franklin averaged about 1.6 points in 34 games as a pro and appears to be much more effective as a coach for Kansas point guards than as a player out of the A&M system.

At this point, I don't compare her to guards I think are better, like the points at UConn or Notre Dame.

Wow. Let's wait and see how many times Morgan Hook gets "cleanly ripped" tomorrow. Maybe you have a point, syb.

Code:

Diggins, Skylar..... 18-18 29.6 .403 .340 .883 3.3 5.8 55 13 15.2

Sims, Odyssey........14-14 28.9 .484 .343 .872 2.4 5.1 41 1 12.5

I don't know where she ranks but she's the right PG for that team. I don't know if she was on another team if it would be the same. She sets their pace as well as their attitude. And as she goes so do they.

In the only game they lost, Sims wasn't able to play. She really is a great quarterback for that team.

Will euphguy....Morgan Hook didn't get ripped at all today. In fact she broke Sims down at least three times on drives to the rim and handled her hounding pressure all game with no problem. Will be nice when you all start recognizing how good our players actually are and support them versus wanting to see how they fail.

Exactly. I just wondered if I was the only one who noticed that some on this board seem to go out of their way to recognize quality in other team's players, coaches, programs, etc. (Yeah, I'm talking about the Baylor program and players).

It's all very well and good to recognize quality in the opposition, but IMO some carry it to an extreme, while apparently trying to maintain an "objective" viewpoint, to the point where one wonders where their true loyalty lies.

Just musing out loud...

Very good muse!!!

I have noticed that those who complain the loudest about what gets posted are the same ones who seldom start new threads praising our team. Wonder why that is?!?!

1. I think we do. We just don't entitle our threads, "Hail to ....."
2. Should it be necessary to start threads praising a team that we, supposedly, support?

That isn't at all the point I was trying to make. If you notice "cleanly ripped" was directed toward syb's comment about the over-physical nature of Odyssey Sims as a point guard. Sorry you didn't understand that!

Also, while Morgan didn't have a bad game, she didn't particularly have a good one, IMO. Thanks!

One of the announcers was talking about Morgan and I believe the description was "solid". I think that fits. She isn't flashy. Isn't likely to score 25 points. Doesn't possess the WOW factor that DRob did but, she is normally solid. She somewhat reminds me of Quannas White. The more I watched Quannas the more I liked him.

Q (actually both Q's) was one of my favorites. His ankle injury really hurt us.
