Calling Smart a "steal at #6" is a bit of a stretch. Now a steal would be Payton at #10. He's been the best guard of this draft class and he doesn't come with the baggage Smart brings.
 
I've watched the Celts play with him on the floor a few times and he's looked pretty good.

Good point. Unlike those guys he has never hit a fan or another player.
 
Typical day for Marcus Smart today. His stat ine was just 7 points, 0 rebounds, 2 assists & 4 steals. But he led the team in minutes and the Celtics were +35 when he was on the court. He's the heart and soul of a surging playoff team. He will be the leader of the Celtics for the next decade. A fabulous pick by Ainge. Total steal at 6. They are massively better with him on the court.
 
Marcus Smart, regardless of what you think of him, has always been a major stat-stuffer. When those stats include lots of points, then that's a huge plus for his team.

I'm just curious...I don't have a dog in this fight and really couldn't care less what kind of a pro Smart is...but I noticed that this thread was about 3 weeks old when you resurrected it. How much has he done in those 3 weeks or did you just wait until they were "+35 with him on the court" to come and show everyone how smart you were? Have they been +35 with him on the court in all those games?

Anyone can have a great game every now and then. Every blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. Did Smart just find his nut?
 
BTW, his season +/- is .1

I'm not saying he is not a good nba player. But at #6, I would expect more. maybe he will develop more but he will never be the central figure of a team.
 
Am I missing something? I have always thought +- was the dumbest stat ever... it can be extremely misleading

The Celtics were also +30 with Jae Crowder on the floor yesterday. He put up 9 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals.
I can't wait to see the kind of team these two future hall of famers build together in the next few years.
 
He plays basketball and punches people in the nuts better than most people on this board do anything.

Love the guys effort. He's always been immature and a hot head.
