Bieniemy

Doo will be a senior and I would expect him to play a lot at the 5. He will have to do that quite a bit this year, I suspect, as Muni will be in foul trouble and Kar appears to be a redshirt now. With Manek and James improved presence on the boards, it gives LK this option.

I see that too, but Muni had four years and he has two? Or does he have three to play at D1 - can't recall.

He has 3 years to play. RS last year with the broken foot issue

I think this is correct, even though OU currently lists Kur Kuath as a Junior. I think he actually missed his first (freshman) season at SLCC with the injury. Accoring to the SLCC site, he played in 33 games last season (2017-18) as a sophomore.

Not sure why OU lists him as a Junior.

Kur Kuath played in the first 6 games at OU this season (33 total minutes), but has not played in the last 3 games.

Merritt from 2019 class has 3 years left.

I think Bieniemy will come off the bench next season along with the Juco kid. Hartmon, Reaves, Doolittle, Manek and Kuath will start. Bigs off the bench would be Freeman, then the Freshman/Polla.

I'd be very surprised if Kuath started over Bieniemy or Williams. Surely those are the #5 & 6 guys, in whatever order.

I mean Doolittle isn't a 5! I don't get why ppl think he can bang with any big that is decent. He's playing the 3/4 this year I just don't see that changing. Maybe you play him and Manek together at times like we are right now I guess, but not full time in my opinion.

I don't get why you're so upset about somebody disagreeing with you. Please don't be angry. It's not personal. I just think that Kruger will go with the best players most of the time and, in my opinion (mine... doesn't have to be yours) that means Bieniemy and Williams will start & play much more than Kuath. Kuath will -- again, in my opinion -- be a 6-8 minute guy. It's probable he'll even be passed by some of the other incoming bigs.

And Kuath isn't going to bang with any decent bigs either, by the way. Have a nice evening.

Not mad buddy, just saying I don't have faith in a Juco kid coming in and starting at the 3. I'm just going off of what we are doing this year and Doolittle is playing more of a wing. There is no room for Williams and Bieniemy to both start by the way even if you do start Doolittle at the 5. Reaves and Hartmon are flat out better than Williams and Bieniemy so there's two starting guards for ya.

I agree that Bieniemy may not start next season, but it’s not because he’s not good enough. It should be obvious by now that Lon likes what he brings to the floor, as evidenced by the minutes he has been getting lately as well as his second half start last week when Calixte was struggling. It should also be noted that he is already one of the best on ball defenders on the team, and he’s bound to be better next year.

So, why do I say Jamal may not start next season? I think he’s the likely candidate to back up Harmon at the point. If I’m right, Lon might want him to come off of the bench in a back up role.

One thing is certain, there is always a spot for a versatile player like Jamal Bieniemy who does so many things well on offense, as well as give our opponents fits with his nose for the ball and long arms. If he improves his perimeter shooting by this time next year, nothing will keep him out of the starting lineup.

100pct agree with everything you said. I could see him coming off the bench, but playing starter minutes, probably more than our starting 5 or Doolittle.

A starting lineup of Harmon, Bienemy, Reaves, Manek, Kuath is something I can get excited about.

There will be competition at the "wing" for sure, as the coaches are reportedly very high on ...

> Alondes Williams (6-5; 220, G) ... Milwaukee, Wisconsin / Triton College

He is long and strong at 220 pounds, and he is also a versatile player that posts points, rebounds, assists and steals to the stat sheet. His free throw shooting is not great so far this season at .610 (22-36).

There is still room for another grad transfer to add to the pot, and stir it well.

Good stuff, Trav! There is no doubt that it will be hard to keep Williams out of the starting lineup, but competition at the wing will be a good problem to have.

Here’s a link to signing day activity I copied from your post with a nice breakdown on his game:

I think Alondes Williams maybe the “sleeper” out of the recruiting class we just signed. None of us know who the starters will be next seaso but it’s fun to speculate. It should be a fun this summer getting this roster makeover started.

I’ve never been hung up on who starts but instead look at the main 7-8 kids in the rotation. I heard the great NBA hall of fame player John Havlicek say it doesn’t matter who starts, but it is important who finishes. John hardly ever started for those Boston Celtics teams in the 60’s and 79’s but he won a lot of 6th Man awards.

If I were guessing on starters right now it would be:
PG DeVion Harmon ... the kid is an absolute stud
SG Austin Reaves..... he is tearing it up in practice as he redshirts
SF Alondes Williams ..... he’s that good
PF Brady Manek
C Kuath if I had to guess now..... most questionable position

Reserves:
6. Jamal Bienemy ... he will backup PG and both wings and will get 20 minutes/game
7. Kristian Doolittle.... can play the wing is we go big or inside at the 4.
8. Freeman? Playing well so far
9. Center backup?? Someone has to emerge from Polla, Iwuakor, Merritt, grad transfer??

We are 9-1, playing pretty well and you guys are already discussing next year's lineup. Conference season hasn't even started yet

You guys are tough

Unless Kuath is considerably better next year than what we've seen so far this year I don't think he starts. Mostly because Lon likes to take care of his Seniors when he can. I think we'll see Doolittle with the starters.

PG-Harmon
SG-Bienemy
SF-Reaves
PF-Doolittle
PF-Manek

Key Reserves: (In no particular order)
Freeman
Kuath
Williams
Hill
