Big 12 Girls Basketball Talk

I agree with your thoughts, Syb, but as far as message board posters complaining, don't you think it's been deserved most of the season starting with ORU?

13-5 in conference is of little consideration because 8 of those wins were against horrible teams and we almost lost one and were in danger of losing two others. So, when it counted, you could say we were 5-5 (if my memory has served me right.

With the weak end of our conference and our pre-conference schedule, we should always be 15-0. If you factor that in, we really stunk this year.

I think the frustration of the fans, discounting those who just come to message boards to complain, is that this is a better team than that---or has been. This team went 13-5 in conference play. They won against WV and Texas with Maddie out. Yet, they barely showed up during the last four games of the season. They beat TCU, but that should have been a no-brainer. How do you get into these periods in which there appears to be no coherent thought on the court? Is it the coaches? It has to be to some extent. But, the players have been around here for four years. They should have some desire to get the job done. But, they are a major part of the problem.

The team that finished 13-5 in the conference should make a run. What we saw tonight would embarrass me if I were a senior. It shouldn't take the coach to apologize. Every senior needs to step out and apologize. That wasn't a lack of ability. It was a lack of self-respect and attitude of getting the job done.

100% agree

I'm not even going to get into a discussion with that logic.

"I want to apologize to our fans and our administration, because that's not the way the University of Oklahoma should be represented, and that starts with me," head coach Sherri Coale said in the postgame press conference.
Now. Let's look at the first game of the NCAA tournament and see if anyone got a message.

If I were a senior, and my coach had to make that statement, I think there would be blood in my eyes for the rest of the year.

Really frustrating! But you could see it coming when we got waxed by K State.

Who knows why they quit a few games ago, but I wonder if part of it is a loss of confidence since SC has still not settled on her starters. She substitutes more than any coach I have ever seen. And anytime a player does anything good, that is when she pulls them. Stupid!

So I suspect they feel like they have to do some wildly lucky thing to stay in the game. Way to much pressure in that.

And how in the world do you get all through the season with a 6' 9" fairly smooth player without being able to teach her to do a SINGLE thing well. Develop something she can do. Anything.

Again, just total frustration. And by the way, Chesapeake is the crumminess facility in the US. It feels like a 12,000 seat hockey arena in which you crowded in 18,000 seats for basketball. Oh yeah, that's what they did.
