Very, very hard to say. I expect KU to win the league, and I expect OU to finish between 4th and 6th. ISU, TCU, and Tech should be the bottom three teams. OSU will probably finish right next to OU, though I'm not sure if they will be one spot ahead, or behind. I'd say KSU will probably finish 6th or 7th.

West Virginia is really interesting to me. They are built for Big East brawlfests. I caught a ref in an airport a couple of years ago. He officiated Big 10, Big East and Big 12. He said Big 12 was the hardest because the athletes were better- so the game was faster. He said the other two leagues were more physical on the whole.

West Virginia has Kilicli who is strong as an ox but doesn't run well. Aaric Murray is the same way. Quincy Acy for Baylor had two of his best games playing against both of those guys because he beat them down the court and got easy dunks. Ridley for UT may have this same issue.

I don't know how it works for WVU. I could see them winning the league and I could see them finishing 8th. They are a team full of transfers like Iowa State. They are the biggest mystery to me.

I'll say:

1. Kansas
2. OSU
3. Baylor
4. OU
5. Kansas State
6. West Virginia
7. Texas
8. Iowa State
9. TCU
10. Texas Tech

Don't understand why everyone is so high on O-State. They have about 3 guys who can really play and a bunch of freshmen and role players/garbage. Enlighten me...

1. You'd have a very hard time convincing me that the Big 12, from top to bottom, is more athletic than the Big East.

2. Proof of that, to an extent, is the old adage that the Big 12 used to struggle in the NCAA Tourney b/c we played so physical, and had a hard time adjusting (except for KU).

I think there is a little more talent there than you give them credit for, but I agree that anything above 4th place is a stretch. As far as the lists, the only things I feel good about is KU being first and Baylor being somewhere in the top 4 and Tech being last. This is going to be an interesting season.

Nash, Smart, & Brown can really play. Williams and Cobbins are role players. Jurick and the other big guy are stiffs. The rest are freshmen.

Just to be clear, I actually like our talent/experience level more than oSu's and would pick us to be a better team this season.

M'Baye-Nash = Probably a push. M'Baye more experienced. I'd have to rely on guys that have seen more of M'Baye than highlight reels because athletically its a push if not advantage M'Baye. I'm really looking forward to this match-up.

Pledger-Brown = Totally different players, but I'd say Pledge. I'll take his range over Brown's athleticism.

Grooms-Smart = Talent edge to Smart for sure, but Grooms not bad except for shot, I'll say that Smart is better though based on the talent but Grooms put together a pretty okay season last year.

Cobbins-Osby = Osby in a landslide barring significant improvement.

Not sure what oSu would throw out as far as the fifth guy in their rotation, but you are probably comparing them to either Cam or Fitz. That is what makes oSu a confusing team to me., but I'd probably take Cam or Fitz over the candidates oSu is putting out there.

I would take Nash's 1 year experience in the Big 12 over M'Baye's 2 years at Wyoming. I also like Nash's 13.3 points and 5 rebounds over M'Bayes 12 points and 5.7 rebounds, considering the league each played in.

I like Brown's defense, rebounding and scoring over Pledgers shooting. IMO Brown is OSU's best player.

I agree with you here. I really liked Grooms (outside of his terrible shot)

Cobbins-Osby = Osby in a landslide barring significant improvement.

Osby is a better player. I think Cobbins has a chance to be much improved this year but he isn't quite on Osby's level yet.

OSU's fifth player is Brian Williams. I think he is on par with Cam and Fitz. The OU players have an advantage in scoring, but I think Williams is a better defender.

I break it down this way comparing OU and O-State:
I give the Cowboys the edge on the perimeter and on defense because of Smart and Brown's athleticism, the ball pressure they can generate, and Williams as a role guy off the bench. This changes my thinking some if Williams has to start in some bastard 4 guard lineup Ford seems to love.

I give Sooners the edge inside, offensively, depth, and coaching. I-State will really struggle to matchup with us inside, especially if we are good enough to bring Fitz off the bench. Our advantage on offense shooting the ball (Pledger, Fitz, M'Baye, and Osby) hopefully will be enhanced if Grooms, Clark, and Neal have improved.
