Big 12 to interview 17 schools about expansion, soures say

If you expand it's to get TV markets in. We lost big ones in Missouri and Colorado not long ago. Nebraska probably wasn't as big a loss. Colorado State, Cincinnati or a Florida School seems like the best ones to add for TV markets.

UNLV not mentioned is interesting, if they got a NFL team and UNLV could use the NFL stadium it would be a growing TV market, and a good travel destination for the other schools fans to want to attend away games

UCONN would be the best for TV market

Pure football other than BYU none bring much to the table terms of fans, tradition and stadiums

If you're a Las Vegas resident with no ties to UNLV, how much do you care about UNLV football now? How much would you care about UNLV football if you had an NFL team in town?

Nevada is dominated by transplants, who are less likely to have strong ties to the sports team of local schools.

It's not a coincidence that college football interest tends to be stronger in markets lacking NFL teams and weakest within the NFL footprint.

true but Vegas is a pretty big tv market that is growing, right now they would be a terrible pick for football, but down the road the appeal could be interesting with an NFL stadium, and fans from other big 12 teams wanting to travel their for games.

What a farce this has become. This conference is a rudderless ship.

I think Philadelphia, the SE Pennsylvania and N. Jersey area qualifies as a large television market.

Temple's a good choice too. The conference really missed out on Louisville a few years ago.
