Big 12 tourney to sell alcohol

The party was across the street; still will be but I'm sure P&L not too happy with this decision.

For sure! People were leaving early and showing up late to party at P&L, though. Big XII probably saw that and made the decision based on that.

I always liked it down at Kemper when we'd go to Sutera's for a slice and some beers. I can only imagine what beers at the P&L were selling for.

IMO this is the reason the whorns and others are looking to sell beer/alcohol. When it's so easy to stay at home or go to bar to watch game or watching on your tablet, smart phone or PC, the alcohol will be the attraction to attend college sports in person. Attendance is stagnating or declining in collegiate sports across the country. Football, not so much yet, since there is demand to attend from older alumni/fans whereas we see declining attendance by students all across the country, even the ALMIGHTY SEC! The beer/alcohol sales may be one of the last enticements to bringing in younger fans although David B/Joe C are going to try with the fan amenities and high tech availability at the games, it sounds like.

I bought one of the last sold at Kemper in 2005. Funny how the dollar eventually wins over principle. But this is a good thing.

I was at UT last weekend for the state tournament they already had the signs and beer carts out even thought they weren't serving. $8 for a regular beer, $10 for a Longhorn sized; and they had a margarita cart as well I think it was $10 and $12 each.

I plan on taking the Big 12 up on their offer while watching our boys in the Sprint Center.

I will be there as well. Kemper got better when they put up the big tent with beer and food as well as access to Hale Arena in between sessions but it's not even close to as fun as Sprint Center. Having that entire area blocked off with thousands of people at P&L is awesome. Beers aren't too outrageous there, bet they will be cheaper than in Sprint Center plus you can get cocktails at the bars outside the restaurants at P&L.

I haven't been to a Big 12 or NCAA tournament in quite some time. I definitely don't want it to go the way of an NBA game or OU football game where there is constantly something going on BUT the thing I didn't like was that I was wishing they were playing other NCAA games between games and at the half on the big screens. Do they do this now? Seemed like a lot of dead and down time when I would go.

When i went to the sweet sixteen and elite eight in Houston a couple of years a go they were showing the other games during warm ups and in between games.

There is a large bar area at midcourt opposite the benches/scorers table on lower level in Sprint Center with multiple TV's which show all the other games going on but that's the only location within the arena where they do that (outside of the Founders Club). Otherwise, you can go across the street to P&L for all the bars and a big screen in the center of the area which is always showing a game.

Not a good thing that I have this up. Damn.
