Bijan > Goldwire

I like the stat but it doesn't account for minutes. So comparing Goldwire to another player(bench) who does well while on the floor but has significantly fewer minutes is a pointless task. If there could be some sort of average or an account for minutes played it would be more useful, to me.

that stat would be RPM "real plus/minus" or BPM "Box PLus/Minus"

plus minus is in general not valuable for a single game but over a season it does tell a story ..

and if you look at BPM for this season so far it would tell you the goldwire has a high plus minus mostly because he has been on the floor with Hill and Tanner Groves ..

Jalen Hill 8.0
Tanner Groves 7.6
C.J. Noland 6.4
Bijan Cortes 4.4
Umoja Gibson 2.5
Elijah Harkless 2.5
Ethan Chargois 2.1
Jordan Goldwire 1.2
Jacob Groves -4.9
Alston Mason -8.3

I can live with Goldwire not scoring a ton if other guys are making shots. If they are not, we need a play making guard like Bijan in there.

I wonder if Jacob is ready or not. Slow footed. Its not close Cj is the best guard off the bench and could start before long.

I think its crazy to say Bijan is better than Goldwire. I dont even this its particularly close.

I've been impressed with Bijan so far this season. Someone mentioned earlier this year that he was slowed by nagging injuries. I think He has run the offense well and made some winning plays/passes. I don't remember him shooting much from outside yet, maybe I just have missed it. I wonder what his outside shot is like.

Shot over 50% from three in high school. Expect it to be pretty good.

He has passed up a few 3 opportunities which I was hoping to see him shoot. I knew he shot it well in high school.

Most of the 3s he took in high school were when people packed the lane on him because he was so good in the lane. Capable 3pt shooter, but a little reluctant.

Goldwire was good today.

I kind of like that short leash. These dudes do something stupid. He yanks them!

I’ll take Goldwire

LOL. Yes, I like Cortes and hope he is a 4 yr player at OU. But he is not ready to replace Goldwire’s D and experience yet, and won’t be this year.

But I can understand why someone might start a premature thread like this. I liked Goldwire’s game much better today than his last outing.

As someone mentioned a few days ago, Harkless is the guy who may/should lose some minutes. Yes, I understand his defensive value, but I want to cover my eyes every time he has the ball in his hands, especially in late game or late shot clock situations.

Harkless is the soul of this team. I know folks don’t like things like that but I don’t think he loses minutes because he can’t put up 20 a night.

At the time this was posted, Harkless had played 4 pretty horrible games, not just from a stats perspective, but an energy and intangibles perspective. He was listless at the time. He came on in the second half of the HBU game and played great against UCF.

I agree that we go as Harkless goes.

Sorry wasnt cherry-picking. Just catching up.

He’s got to be better if we want to keep heading up.

I don’t think he needs to score 20. I think he needs to be at least a threat to make a perimeter shot, and he desperately needs to stop turning the ball over and making bad decisions. Yes, he made a huge shot late. He also had two or three possessions where he dribbled the air out of the ball and we ended up without a decent look. Those aren’t things that you can survive when the competition ramps up.
