***Blake Griffin Slam Dunk Contest Thread***

Best dunks were Blake's first ,third, and Derozen's second dunk. It gets a little rediculous with all of the props and gimmicks, just go out there and throw one down.

This was the best dunk contest in a long time. There really weren't that many bad dunks. Ibaka's dunks were pretty impressive. The free throw dunk should have gotten a couple of 10s.

I was reminded once again while I don't usually watch this contest, but silly as it was, I'm glad Blake won.

I do not get all the fuss, McGee's final dunk was not a winning dunk either...

Another example where Mr. Griffin makes one proud to be a Sooner!

I remember when it use to be that if you missed a dunk, you could still complete another one, but your score would only be about 1/2 of what it could have been.

I know that they were trying to put some excitement back into the dunk contest, but the 15 missed dunks before hearing the TNT guys climax after seeing a dunker finally complete one is just not doing it for me....

Nate Robinson won the contest one yr after missing maybe 30 dunks before FINALLY landing one.

Ibaka ans Rozen both got caught by the Blake vs McGee hype tonight. All of the dunkers had some excellent finishes, but the misses take away the excitement, IMO. Serge's freethrow line glide was worth more than a 45....

Kenny Smith did an excellent job of making each BG dunk a spectacle, while McGee had little to no showmanship.....

I agree Serge's FT dunk was behind the FT line. Look at Dr. J, MJs and Brent Barry's FT dunks and they were on or inside the FT line. That should have been a 48.

Kind of weak really. I was expecting Blake to jump over the middle of the car.

Blake was wanting to jump over the middle of the car and having the ball tossed to him through the sun roof and dunking it. He even practiced it all day but the Clippers management nixed the idea and let him jump the hood.

I do agree though I though the flip off the backboard dunk and hang by his elbow was the best and the contest was over!

I'm still partial to this dunk! :)

DeRozen's 2nd dunk and McGee's 3rd dunk where he rocked the cradle were my favorites. As it's been said landing the dunk on the first try makes them 10x more exciting. It goes from "what is he gonna do, can he pull it off, infinite possibilities" to "i know what is gonna happen, can he pull it off". That said, if Griffin wanted to jump over the body of the car or jump over the car and the choir (as i've read) then the nba/clippers suck for disallowing it.

I was hoping Blake would do something like this, unfortunately the NBA is a corporate whore and made him dunk over a KIA with a Sprite logo on it. Marko Milic is the balls though.

You can't really blame the Clippers for not wanting their franchise player to jump over a car in a meaningless contest! Especially as injury prone as he has been.
