Booker to...

I agree with Soop. Booker has limited skill and has been recruited over. While I believe had Booker been a great citizen and student Lon would have let him stay, I think the fact that there were other issues made it easier. Booker's minutes were going to go down eventually(sooner than later), and Lon has a scholly he can sign a much better player with. Not really hard to see.

Maybe he's been recruited over and maybe he hasn't -- I don't know that, and neither do you. We both hope he has.

Can you guarantee one of the new guards will average more than 7 ppg as a freshman? That's what Booker averaged down the stretch in conference and postseason play, and it's a reasonably safe bet he'd be at least a little better as a junior than he was as a sophomore.

I'm excited about Odomes and James -- certainly for the long term -- but I am not counting on them being better as freshmen than Booker would have been as a junior.

This is pretty much it for me. Same with the loss of Hornbaek into last year. I would rather have had him back than what we had on the bench last year at guard. But maybe we are wrong and Odomes and James are a big upgrade. Our bench guard play right now looks real light one experience right now.

He was hampered by injuries for of the season. We had several games down the stretch that we might not have won without his contributions.

If Kruger was just looking to get rid of someone who wasn't "that good," both Walker and Cole would be gone before Booker. What's more, we still have a scholarship to give next season, so Booker being "not that good" doesn't explain his departure. It must have to do with off-the-court stuff.

It's funny, but when Ada said that players suddenly become better in the eyes of some fans when they transfer out, I was thinking that I more often find the opposite to be true: Many fans rush to denigrate players when it's announced they're leaving.

His game was marginalized when not taking 3 pointers yet his ability to take good open looks were questionable at times as well, speaking of rushing. This is what spectators saw and this is what they use to form an opinion for if you witness good things then you form a good opinion and when you don't the opposite is true.

That and his inability to really guard anyone. I don't want to bash the kid but he was very frustrating to watch. If his shot wasn't falling he became a liability and he had to play when the starters needed rest.

Frank was a shooter not a maker!

Jelon was missed this year. He would have helped us and is a better player than Frank. Jelon probably could have stayed but he had issues to deal with and wanted to be a starter.

There are games we would have lost last season without Frank's contributions. It remains to be seen if the same will prove true of our freshmen guards this season. Frank, despite dealing with injuries for much of last season, scored 8 or more points in seven games. He scored in double digits in five games. And it's reasonable to assume he would have improved at least to some degree as a junior.

Will our new guards be able to replace that production? I hope so, but it's far from guaranteed.

I can definitely think of one off the top of my head : D-A-Y-T-O-N

Let's hope one of the new guys is an upgrade...and yes, that remains to be seen.
