Brandon Garrison

This program is dead until they start investing like a program that is ready to compete. Today, I heard the number they had in NIL last year and this year. It's worse than you probably could imagine. If we could have paid Oweh, he would have been on the other side of the matchup yesterday. Same with Garrison.
I know we’re behind on NIL but that’s not the cause of all our problems. We have a coaching problem. We need both to succeed. If we have terrible coaching (we do) and more NIL, the results will still be the same. At this point, every NIL dollar is wasted because we have a bad coach. We need a better coach. Period.

I know we need more NIL but it’s certainly not coming as long as moser is the coach. Everyone has seen exactly who he is over the last 4 years. He’s not it.

These guys aren’t getting paid what they were offered. Garrison’s ask to Texas was 900k. I heard guys are getting like half or a quarter of what they were promised.

are there no contracts?
surely guys aren't playing for "promises"

If that were true, you'd be seeing holdouts. Now, I can believe they're paid that year one and then it's cut in year two.

my understanding from comments i read from kentucky fans is that we would have complained about overpaying him, and that he wouldn’t really have been much of an upgrade from godwin. i am probably smoking the copium, but certainly ok with him not being on the team after last night’s display.

There's just no way he wouldn't be much of an upgrade on godwin. Godwin has been bad almost this whole year but like 2-5 games.

If that's true then why was Moser quoted last year as saying it was bad but it's much better now and they can work with what they have?
Moser has recruited three dudes who may end up in the NBA in the next couple of years and still couldn’t make the tournament. He doesn’t need more NIL money. He needs a drop in competition.

It’s his shot blocking ability that would be massive for this team. The defense has no teeth because our big men are terrible defenders.
Watching Wague get caught up in the mess and not be able to block Oweh's shot was one of the more embarrassing things I saw that night. The pick and roll with our two going to the screener and not Oweh and Wague falling to the floor as the shot was made.

Interesting how the day after another home loss in a critical game, a supposedly low number mysteriously leaks.

It is 4x what it was this year compared to last year. The number for last year is actually embarrassing.

Dude. Stop. I just happened to be talking to someone about the state of the state in OU athletics in general. Someone who would know the state of the state. And the numbers he told me were lower than have been reported by about 1/3.

It was also said that Oweh would have been here this year if we could have paid him what he got at Kentucky. We just couldn't.

Sure thing.

I'm going to count Wagues' falls next game

The last paragraph is crazy talk.

You're saying he would have stayed at ou, instead of a desperate blueblood (where he normally would not belong), if we simply matched? With a coach who mismanages him and doesn't know how to use him and also said coach is on the hot seat? People get drafted simply bc they have Kentucky next to their name.. he would have been crazy to stay at ou even if we theoretically EXCEEDED UK's offer..

I like Mo and think he is a decent player. I think, and have since before the year started, thought he was clearly our best big. I support giving Moser another year, so my next comment is not to suggest he should be fired (I know I am in the minority on this board), but one of my biggest complaints about Moser is that he didn't start and play Mo until he fouled out from the very first game. I believe that had he done this, Mo would be a much better player now and we would have a better record. Nothing against Sam, but I just don't see how he is a better player than Mo. Hard to judge kids when they usually don't play much and get thrown into games once in a while.

On an unrelated topic, but does anyone know whether it is the players or Moser that is choosing not to play Jones and Nwonkwo? And, if it is the players choosing not to play, does anyone know whether their decision is based on a desire to transfer or whether they want to save this year so as to play next year? I could speculate either situation, but just wondering if anyone knows or has heard anything on the OU sites. Thanks.

I’m sorry dude but you don’t know come here from sic ‘em. NO ONE ON THIS BOARD DOES! At least concerning nil. I’ve had the former GM of the football team say we had plenty of nil money for bball. I’ve had a BMD tell me the exact same thing. Until you , or anyone else, can produce a written authenticated document with exact figures then NO ONE KNOWS SH@T!
