Holy crap. Talk about surprising.
The good thing about the C's hiring a young coach that might not be NBA ready, is that they can be patient with him b/c they won't have a winning roster for a few years. I definitely didn't see that coming.
NBA and patience with coaches in the same sentence? Surely you are joking!
Yep if he doesn't win after 2 years he'll be out of there in todays NBA. Maybe we could go for him after Lon retires in a couple years if he doesn't make it in the NBA?
He will still have his choice of college jobs after this doesn't work out.

Why do you say it won't work out?

Ainge has purposefully set up a roster that is destined to lose a lot of games the next couple years. The first few years, Ainge will judged Stevens by how well he develops his young players, and not so much by wins and losses. Ainge has a lot of job security. He can afford to be patient with a new coach.Yep if he doesn't win after 2 years he'll be out of there in todays NBA. As a lifelong Celtics fan, all I can say is...they got 'em a teacher of young men to help the young guys, for relatively cheap, for a few years. If they can win - that's another story. I don't think they will suck near enough to get high lottery picks.
Their roster is not yet set, I don't think. Although personally, I wouldn't do it, you can't rule out Ainge trading Rondo. He might just reboot the whole thing.
In the NBA you need players more than anything. Boston doesn't have them.
